Agreed - again, just internet anecdotes, and I haven't heard of anything like it for a few years now.

I can get pretty much any game early, and have for The Show for years, Madden this year and NHL in the past. You usually just can't access the online part, haven't heard of anyone being banned for years. It's not you that broke the agreed to date, it's the person you got it from.

I'm pleased with the number of games that I want to play; I have no time and many games, but better that than what we had at launch.

Since I had kids and my gaming-time dropped off considerably, I've bought almost nothing on launch (save for NHL and E3 preorder sales). It changes slightly from game to game, but a general rule of thumb seems to be about $10/month comes off the cost. Getting a game for $40 or less is quite easy if you can wait 3 months.

Digital Foundry has started looking at GTA V
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/di...mance-analysis
We've completed work on an initial performance analysis of the PlayStation 4 version of Grand Theft Auto 5, which you can find embedded below. At first blush, we're looking at a very similar release to the Xbox One version - with only one really noticeable difference, the implementation of a lens flare effect that appears either absent or dialled back on Xbox One. Frame-rate is confirmed at 30fps, though the rare dropped frames seen on Xbox One are even less of an issue here. We're working through the game as quickly as we can and our journeys are taking us out of the city, so yes, we're definitely looking into stuff like this and will report back when we have more to share.
Looks like there is quite a bit of difference in landscape detail/density. Their full analysis probably will show up in a day or two.

If you look at the mini maps on either it looks like a different area

No, it doesn't. The PS4 picture is slightly cut off on the left side, even the health bar looks shorter.
Also, it would be an extraordinary achievement if they found two areas of the game that looked that identical.

I'm a 360 owner who originally said F Microsoft for the whole always on/Kinect/used games nerfing fiasco but I seem to have softened on that stance. I've never given a crap about framerate in any game I've played in my life and won't be using the system for anything other than gaming.
Opinions on if I should transition to PS4 or stick with what I know/have been comfortable with? Right now sticking with Microsoft doesn't seem like a terrible idea.

Unless you love Halo, I'd suggest you should go with the PS4.

Nope, Halo and all post-GoldenEye FPS can suck it.
I'd probably know if I followed more closely but what's the word on failure for these systems? RROD and the such.

No better or worse than any other typical electronic item I think. There isn't the massive screw up on the Xbone, PS4 or Wii U like the original RROD.

Wow. Goldeneye was great for it's time but there have been fantastic FPS games since then. Hell Perfect Dark was better than Goldeneye in every possible way.

I should have been more clear, really all FPS can suck it. Not a fan of that type of game period. I don't like playing online and the gross neglect single player campaigns receive leave me bored to tears. It just always feels like the same game with new skins. The last one I played that I liked was some star wars one where you could issue rudimentary orders to your squadmates, that was OK.

And this is only the start of developers figuring out how to use the systems. In a few years I bet we start seeing even more dramatic differences in visual quality in PS4's favor, as long as no more developers pull an Ubisoft. The exclusives for each system will be really interesting to compare down the road as well

I don't think the screenshots do it justice. The colour and lighting (and graphics in general) seem to better on the Xbox watching side-by-side? That shouldn't be, should it? Is this more Microsoft flexing its financial might?
And Edit: Lol, chemgear you picked the only example that I've seen which suggests otherwise.... why do you do that?
Edit again: It seems the Xbox version has much better colour contrast, kind of like the difference between a good projector and a cheap one... cheap projectors have poorer contrast.

I used the weblink and image that Digital Foundry itself linked and used in their article.
I've seen other images on various forums (GAF and such) but figured that we'd get a better in depth analysis once they finish up.
