How the fata is he going to destroy the country?
If anything, you now have a chance to prosper without someone telling you that they're better with your money than you.

Forget all the fear mongering from Conservative supporters on the right, and the same from NDP supporters on the left... and let's all rejoice in the debacle of epic purportions by Gilles Duceeppe and the Bloc.

The NDP wanted a proportionally elected Senate so they could get some seats for a change. It will be interesting to see, now that they have seats, if they stick to that.

How many seats did the BQ have before? That drop is awesome.

Its just politics! Its fun to argue and this thread didn't get to 180 pages with everyone complimenting each others policies/platforms.

Woah, woah, this is the first I have heard of this.
Who wants to do that?

The Greens have half as many seats as the Bloc. Now THAT is pathetic.

Our democracy existed just fine for over 140 years without the subsidy. It will exist fine for the next 140. It's not up to the tax payers to fund parties. It is up to supporters. Go donate to your party of choice.
Anyway, just got home, and this result is just unbelievable. This truly might be the most historic vote in Canadian history. To see the Bloc just utterly destroyed is worth the NDP opposition. And goodbye, American Tourist. Feel free to buy a Maple Leaf T-shirt or two on your way back to Harvard!
Congrats to Layton though. Don't like the guy. Don't like his politics. Don't like the damage he would do to this country. But man is a politician through and through, and deserves his moment in the sun.
Absolutely amazed at the Conservative total. Buh-bye gun registry, Wheat Board and vote subsidy.

We are all Canadians.

This is a pretty significant far left movement. This could be a short term victory for the Conservative party.

Atleast with a conservative majority, Harper can finally get rid of the gun registry.

I wish that were true.
The Copyright bill will likely pass, as will the scraping of the gun registry and fun useless tax cuts for corporations. Health care will likely get cut as well.
Not to mention spending billions on jets that probably won't be necessary by the time we'd get them.
I'm hoping that all those things don't come true, but I think we all know that they will.
