Looks like RBC is changing their denial of coverage position in affected flood areas.
 This is big news.

Still no news from AMA about my coverage, and to think they were boasting about denying quickly to help people. Psshh, they are leaving me twisting in the wind right now.

I think he means that they said, the quick denial of claims allowed their clients to be first in line for Gov't relief.

Hope they follow RBC.

The article in the Herald yesterday (or was it the day before?) had the AMA guy saying pretty much that. Claiming that since they were giving people the denial answer nice and quick they could go and apply to the government that much faster.
Well here I am over a week since the adjuster came out and they haven't given me an answer, if you are going to try and spin it at least do the part you are spinning right.

Goodbye AMA insurance with my family and all the extended family. Who should we go to?

Allstate's been pretty good so far, despite that they took a while to send out an adjuster. We'll see how things are when it actually comes to whether they're going to nitpick our possessions list and restoration costs, but so far it's been all positive.

TD's been good to work with any time we'd had to make a claim. Cooperators has been very nice as well for some of our rentals, though we've never had to make a claim.

TD has decided not to cover me even though it was storm sewer backup. I'll be moving my business away from them.

Intact has been good to the couple of neighbours that have them, will definitely look that way. I do all my banking with RBC and seeing them have the change and approve for sewer backup has me considering them now too.

I wouldn't be surprised if the insurers that had to cover the flood related sewer backups change their wordings in the next couple of years.

I literally just applied for home insurance, and the company wasn't even offering sewer coverage "for the time being". On the plus side, the rate without sewer coverage is pretty cheap.

		| Redford wants to talk to Harper about more temporary workers for flood rebuild
 Friday, July 5th 2013, 1:11 pm
 the canadian press
CALGARY - Alberta Premier Alison Redford says she wants to talk to the prime minister about allowing more temporary foreign workers into Alberta as her province rebuilds from recent flooding.
Redford says Alberta is going to need a robust workforce as homes and businesses are restored in devastated communities right across the southern part of the province.
Both Redford and Prime Minister Stephen Harper are in Calgary this weekend for the Stampede.
More than 330,000 workers live and work in Canada as part of the federal temporary foreign worker program.
That number has nearly tripled over the last 10 years, with the bulk of those job seekers going west in search of work.
The program has come under scrutiny lately with complaints emerging that foreign workers are taking the jobs of Canadians.
Ottawa recently proposed changes to the program, strengthening rules around what foreign workers must be paid and putting a temporary freeze on the ability to fast-track the process of bringing someone in.

If you know anyone with a flood relief debit card to spend, Sears is offering an additional 15% off (need to buy a gift card with a portion of your debit card and they'll add 15% to it, then use the gift card for the purchase). Also free delivery. Other stores might be offering similar discounts, but it's definitely worth seeing what offers various stores have.
