You could put
Conservative Party of Canada - Mr. Toilet Bowl
on the ballot and it would win in Calgary.

7 years? Elections are mandated every 4 years...2015 is the next election.

Next election Oct 2015.
Thanks goodness any "Iggy" references from here on in will be about #12, not the guy likely to catch the first flight out of the country after his loss.

I think it was the solution this country needs at this time. The Liberals need to rebuild, come back with a new leader, and provide a fiscally conservative socially liberal option.
The economy is pretty stable right now, and the Conservatives are the best option for that in the near future.

The best part about this, is Canada is finally going to see that there is no hidden agenda with the CPC. Scary Harper is not going to make an appearance.

At least now we get to find out. All the fear mongering against Harper was getting tiresome. So was is the NDP fear mongering and Ignatieff character assassinations for that matter.
I think a good 4 year majority will help calm the political climate. Harper won't run attacks ads for 4 years straight, would he?

I agree that economically it's going to be solid - I just think that removing public funding for parties is going to pretty much destroy the system as it exists now and mean that the parties are exclusively bankrolled by wealthy Canadians who can afford to donate to political parties.
