So....
Go Sens
Go Wings
Go Rangers
Go Leafs
It would be nice to have the #6, #19 and #25 picks in the draft this year.

I don't care about the difference between picks 26 and 30th. I want Iginla to win the cup. Go Penguins.
That said, go Rangers, go Wings, and go (oh god this hurts) Leafs ... ew... I think I'm gonna puke.
Just for interests sake, the 6, 19 and 25 picks in '03 were Michalek, Getzlaf, and Kesler.

I believe that would be some real horrible decision making. That's basically two first round draft picks to move up two places? I also don't get the sudden man-crush on Brock Nelson. I see him as a center with 2nd or 3rd line potential, most likely ending up as a third line guy. Sounds a lot like Max Reinhart. Is it worth giving up anything, let alone a lot, to make a lateral move at a position? There are just as good a chance of getting a franchise player in this draft at any point in the first round. There is a better chance high, but there are no guarantees. I think there are some very good players in this draft, with some star potential, but I don't see a player that stands out as being a guy you give up a lot and then build your entire organization around.
The Flames need to improve their top end players and you do that by drafting well with as many picks as you can get your hands on. Flames are lucky to have three first round picks and should make sure they maximize those by turning them into three players that can contribute to the rebuild and play on the top line or top pair. Great teams have good players at every position. I want the Flames to be a great team.

If Toronto and NYR both pull off wins tonight Flames St.Louis pick turns into the 17th pick overall. Here is hoping for a great games by the Maple Turds and the Overrated Rangers.

No, The St. Louis pick can not be earlier than 19th.
As of right now, it can be anywhere from 19th to 22nd.

I asked this in the "Other First Round" thread, but does that 22nd account for the fact that, if both Washington and Boston win (which should be the worst case scenario for the Flames), one of those teams still won't be making the conference finals (and thus should improve the pick one more after the 2nd round).

I don't care how good the pick is, I just can't rest till the Leafs are out of the playoffs.

Yes it does.
The worst case scenario, as it stands right now, is that Chi goes to the conference final with either LA or SJ (doesn't matter). Bos would play Was and the worst case scenario would be Pit and either of these teams in the other conference final (again, doesn't matter).
That scenario would mean that the four finalists are: Chi, LA, Pit, Was/Bos, and they would draft 27-30
That leaves the other division winners, Ana, Mon, Van and Was/Bos to draft 23-26.
That leaves Stl 22nd.
(while Bos isn't a division winner, they finished ahead of Stl in the standings so remain ahead no matter what. Thus Was and Bos are identical in that they both draft after Stl, regardless of what happens - assuming they both advance)

If NYR and Tor win, that creates more possibilities for non-division winners to make the conf finals (which would further improve the Stl pick)
In fact, if they both make round two, the Stl pick automatically moves to 21st.
And then the only ways it can improve further is by the 2nd round elimination of Chi and/or Pit

Picks 27-30 - conference finalists.
Anaheim, Montreal, Vancouver are division leaders already eliminated, so they will all pick behind the St Louis pick, but before 27th.
So far, that means that the St Louis pick can be no later than 23rd.
However, Wins tonight be Toronto and NYR would mean that both Washington and Boston would be outside of the conference finals, and both of those teams would pick after the St Louis pick as well - so that would mean that the St Louis pick could be no worse than the 21st.
If Boston and Washington both win tonight, then they would play each other in the second round, meaning that one of them would have to lose, and that loser would pick after the St Louis pick, meaning that our pick couldn't be any worse than 22nd. One of those teams would make the conference finals, so our pick could be no better than 20th.
If only one of Boston/Washington win tonight, than the loser would draft after the St Louis pick, meaning that our pick couldn't be worse than 22nd. However, in this case, 19th pick would still be a possibility.

If this draft really is as deep as 03, if you are the Flames, looking at this list and the possibilities, you keep all three picks. It's a no-brainer.

Not even a small part of me is cheering for the Leafs tonight. I hope the Bruins blow them out and Reimer gets lit up
CP has let me down today with the surprisingly large number of Leaf supporters.
Moving our pick from 23 to 20 (or whatever it is) is not worth it to cheer on Dion and his mates tonight

Not true. Already it is guaranteed that the blues pick will be 22nd at worse. If rangers AND leafs win tonight, the pick moves to 21 (at worst) and moves to 19 or 20, based solely on losses by Chicago or Pittsburg (or both) in (and only in) round 2.
After round 2. The blues pick will be decided no matter what.
