With Stoll and Moore both getting pretty old, could Backlund interest NYR in Kreider talks ?
Gaudreau - Monahan - Hudler
Kreider - Bennett - Granlund
Colborne - Stajan - Frolik
Whatever
Decent looking lines. That second line would be hard to handle, and extremely good on the boards.

Faceoff wins might be a problem for that projected 2nd line.

Bennett isn't going to get any better without taking draws. Not to mention Kreider and Granlund are good at getting the puck back.

Most I'm willing to give up for Kreider is Colborne+CProspect. Backlund is out of the question IMO.

Where are we for the waiver order? I would assume a lot of teams would be interested in Tikhonov.

Kreider could be like a Hamilton type add. You have your home grown talent and sprinkle it in with some trades and UFAs.

For realz? I'd drive Backlund to the airport myself in that swap. I actually value Colborne more then Backs but would move either...

Who's paying for airport parking?
Might need to grab a lunch too if the flight is delayed?

Only EDM and CLB if I am not mistaken are ahead in the waiver priority order
Edit: 1. CAR
2. CLB
3. TOR
4. EDM
5. CGY

I would trade Colborne AND Backlund for Krieder without a second thought. I doubt NYR would though as most GMs aren't in the business of trading quality for quantity.

Viktor Tikhonov is on waivers. If Jones is out long term, I wouldn't be surprised if the Flames claim him. He is a RW, which we have few options on that side and the Flames tried signing him this offseason.

I'd be shocked if Tikhonov gets claimed by us. One thing we aren't lacking in is bottom 6 tweener types, even if Jones is out long term.

Drew Shore deserves a shot. He's played really well for Stockton and deserves an opportunity before claiming someone off waivers.

No. Shore is AHL talent. Did nothing with the chance he had. Move on.

I also don't have high hopes for Shore, but if he is doing well in the AHL you have to reward that. It helps keep the other prospect hungry and working hard when they see that if you do well, you get rewarded in this organization.
Besides, even though I haven't been a big fan of Shore, I won't label him as an AHL talent only. Some guys just need to have more chances and more time before they find their game in the NHL. He still could very well end up being a staple in the bottom 6 for the Flames for years to come. Still too early to to be so sure of Shore.

I am asuming you are seeing some Stockton games? Because his stats are not exactly eye-popping.

I don't believe that's true. He was a 22 year-old signing, so he only needs 2 years of professional experience to be eligible for arbitration and restricted free agency. He will have 2 years experience at the end of this season.
He's not like Gaudreau or Arnold who burned the first year of their contracts without playing enough games to qualify as a year of pro experience, so their ELCs weren't synced with their arbitration and RFA rights. Hayes didn't burn a year of his ELC, so his years line up the way they're supposed to.
