This isn't a challenge for Trump at all. Everything he has said and done since taking office has facilitated Russia to behave like this. This can't be a surprise to them.
Maybe the Trump Administration will act on it, but it will have been on a pretext that they created. We saw a similar play made by Bush Sr. when his administration told Saddam Hussein that the U.S. had no interest in Iraq's dispute with Kuwait and then "acted" shocked when he invaded.
I think Trump will just use it as an excuse to militarize and increase security measures, but I hardly doubt they are surprised.

The Republicans in Congress refusing to address Flynn is shocking, even by their standards. Chaffetz refuses to investigate, because the leaks are more important that the National Security Advisor illegally speaking with the Russian Ambassador, likely violating the Constitution in a trip to Moscow in 2015, after all of the ties to Russia with Manafort, the election... wow, what is the breaking point for GOP Congressmen?
The amazing thing about Flynn and his "Lock her up" speech, is that he did the exact same thing, and when he was warned it was illegal, said he just didn't care. Just a few months ago, Trump said Russian spying and leaks against the DNC were good, because the information is more important than the espionage and leak. Now? Not so much. Everyone on this board knew this would be the case.
I can't comprehend how anyone could defend Trump holding a top secret conversation about North Korean missile launches in a public place, surrounded by people with their cell phone cameras out. Not to mention, he is sitting next to the President of a foreign country while having the conversation??? How is that not cause for concern? Then he immediately walks over to a wedding reception, takes the mic, and says he came over because "the bride and groom are members, and have paid me a lot of money." The President of the United States! While entertaining the President of Japan!

Seriously, Republican congress members: you do not want to be covering for accusations of Russian penetration of US govt.
One wonders when they'll figure out that this is already ruining re-election chances for many of them.

Well the Senate which seems to run a little more towards the center than Congress is starting to call for in depth investigations.
so who had less than month in "how long until the GOP starts distancing themselves from the administration" pool? Can't even get through the confirmations without major black eyes and resignations.
The democrats may be dysfunctional and screwed up big time but the GOP is just as big of a mess. They spend 8 years obstructing over things like the ACA and when they get total control they don't even have any solutions prepared. But hey it stems from the voting public who by and large are woefully under educated on the issues. When a good portion of voting public is a mess how can you expect the people they elect not to be?
Gotta love when lawmakers don't hide how they really feel about women.
And even better, this law they're trying to pass that would require a woman to give her doctor the name(s) of her sexual partner(s) and then get his written consent to obtain an abortion, the claim that it originally was about keeping men responsible, but nope, they took that part out of the bill.
So much for taking responsibility, that part is only for the woman to worry about, I guess.
So we're just openly shaming women for having sex, and treating them as subhuman incubators. Lovely! It's always good to know that corpses and fetuses have more bodily autonomy than do living women.
The bill made it out of committee.
Quote:
The Oklahoma House of Representatives Public Health Committee reversed itself on one abortion rights bill Tuesday and passed a separate one that would essentially give men the final say on most abortions.
Heh, Spicer's press conference is such a mess.
"Unlike the previous administration, Trump is being very tough with Russia..."
"Unlike the previous administration, Trump is trying to get along with Russia..."
(paraphrasing)
The White House has posted inaccurate texts of President Trump's own executive orders on the White House website, raising further questions about how thorough the Trump administration has been in drafting some of his most controversial actions.
A USA TODAY review of presidential documents found at least five cases where the version posted on the White House website doesn't match the official version sent to the Federal Register. The differences include minor grammatical changes, missing words and paragraph renumbering — but also two cases where the original text referred to inaccurate or non-existent provisions of law.
It's funny watching Spicer pretend that Trump is tough on Russia. Nobody is buying it buddy, the cat was out of the bag a long time ago.
So hypothetically, what happens when you have a traitorous president but there is a large enough portion of Congress that is not willing to impeach him? Is he free to rule indefinitely or until mid term elections flush out enough of those Congressmen?
The missles are not a new thing, the Obama administration had already warned the Russians on this during the test phase. It's very dangerous because launches are not detectable, making the US vulnerable to a first strike.
"When I was referring to Mr. Trudeau, I was speaking about someone completely different! PERIOD!"
I just watched it again, I think he just stuttered a bit when he started to say Trudeau. It does sound like Joe, but I don't think that was on purpose. It would be hilarious if it was, though.
I don't think the 'no concern of Flynn actually doing anything wrong beyond lying to Pence' is a good direction for defending this. It's only going to increase calls to release all recorded conversations Flynn had with Russian officials, and any improprieties in those calls are going to look even worse.

Haha, Spicer now blaming the DOJ for taking too long to notify the Trump administration about Flynn. Wish I could see the looks on the journalists' faces in that room.
