Awesome D+1 starts for Reschny, Potter, and Wyttnebach! If the Flames don't get a top draft pick this year, seeing these three finish well above PPG in their rookie years will take some of the sting off at least.

Definitely a better Friday for Potter and Wyttenbach than for a certain team that couldn’t find a use for either of them

Obviously a disappointing start for Misa, but for a player of his size, being able to go up against heavier, stronger, bigger competition as early as he can in his vital developmental years is going to help him way more than dominating in the OHL imo

I wonder if some of the players who left for college will end up going back to the CHL?

My thought was post season, not in season. Im sure there are more than a few who understand they may be better served in the CHL. Will be interesting to watch.

If you're player struggling in the NCAA and you have pro hockey aspirations, the best path is to work harder to become an effective NCAA player so you're ready to turn pro in a few years.
If you don't have pro hockey aspirations, the best path is to stick with the program, enjoy playing hockey, get your degree, and be ready to transition your life after graduating.
Regardless of the player's goal, going back to the CHL as a 19 or 20 year old doesn't make sense.
It's a bit unfortunate the Flames signed Basha and Battaglia so quick. The NCAA would have been a great spot for them to develop.
I suspect the Flames will want more of their prospects developing in the NCAA considering there is only so much ice time to go around on the Wranglers. It's better if players can atleast play their junior season before turning pro.

In the past, players have left the NCAA mid-season and joined a junior team.
I believe there is a roster cutoff date though for CHL playoff eligibility (like all leagues have to prevent teams from bringing in ringers for the playoffs), so the player would need to make the decision before that time, which would still be midseason in the NCAA.

I don't think it really matters if you from NCAA to CHL - you can always go back to the NCAA later if you want now or play at a Canadian university using the CHL scholarship. Most of those players are not going to be NHLers though since you likely wouldn't leave if things were going well.
