Basically it's like saying "I'm willing to lost $100 in this argument and you are not, therefore I win".

Just so lame.
100% Unless it's brought up in a fun "let's do this so we have something to follow this season" way. Me and Mr.Coffee did that a couple seasons ago. But yeah, most CP bet challenges are are born of anger and arguments.

Oh, yeah? I bet you $100 they're not!

That’s why all bets should be for pube sandwiches

Dino7c also murdered me in another bet but was also a class act about it. When I tried to pay him, he refused and requested I send the money to charity instead. He won't come out and say that's what he did, so looks like I'll have to.

This seems like an aggregate

You should only make an internet bet when you're certain about the outcome. Like David Jones scoring 15 goals in the 2016–17 NHL season.

I'm kind of like that with bets as well, except instead of asking to donate to a charity I ask that the money be transferred to me as soon as ****ing possible.

Given we have heard speculation the Flames offer is a 2 year deal I am speculating this is the Backlund camp ask. That is my own guess though.

Without being in the know at all (so this is not criticism of your sources or anything) it seems weird to receive information that specific on an exact contract being floated but zero info on which side it's coming from?

Yeah, sorry didn't mean to pile on Dino7c (I know he got upset and took a legit break a month ago). I'll just say that I "get him" and honestly wish I could experience sports fandom the way he does. but I also understand the negative reaction to his posting style.

He's a legit homer, and I don't mean that in a derogatory way. He loves the Flames, he supports anything and everything current management/coaches/players do, and trashes any player/coach as soon they leave/get traded, and is honestly probably a better/more happy fan than I am. All of that would be fine, but where he struggles is that he attacks and belittles anyone that criticizes anything the Flames do, including performance on the ice. He tries to control the site into positive only discussion and all his literally daily battles come from that, which he doesn't understand.

I get Jiri/Bingo/textcritic etc and try to work with their "let's skew towards positive feelings because this site means something to us in terms of enjoyment in coming here and discussing the Flames". But Dino7c is just too absurd in staunch positivity while attacking anyone outside his definition of a real fan.

He sees sports fandom as - Real fan = support the team/players/management through everything as we're all one team and Crappy fan = being upset at times, voicing displeasure in direction/players/coaches, expressing negativity.

Jiri/Bingo etc have some excellent views on this matter that make me challenge how I follow a sports team as an adult. Dino7c, leaves no room for anything, and i think message board posting just isn't for him in how he follows the Flames.

That is the info I got and I passed it along. The exact message was "Hearing 3 years, 5M AAV, mntc, and the C for Backs."

So ya, nothing that tells me if that is the Flames offer, Backlund's ask, or if that is done. I don't want to report something I don't know.

Give me examples where Michael Backlund is a top 6 forward on one of the contending teams
He plays for the Calgary Flames ... he only has to be part of a contending team every second year.

But points are points. It's an objective way to measure a player across an entire league. If he's the 4th best player on the average NHL team that's not a bottom feeder, it's a bubble team.

If you want top ten teams he likely slides back to 6th, but still top six.

And points are about 20% of his game in my mind.

Guessing Backlund must have skipped on your charity of choice when he dolled out his 300 hours of charity work last year?

The Flames don't really measure Backlund's impact by points.

Yeah the singular focus on points in this topic completely misses the mark on the measure of his value.

I have no idea what this has to do with comparing him offensively to Johansen or where he slots in a teams lineup. I think it's great Backlund does lots of charity work.

What bet are you actually proposing?

If it's EVP, or 5 on 5 points, I'm in.

As for the bold, you don't do yourself any favours when you post things like that.
