Markstrom was the best goalie in the NHL his last season in Vancouver IMO...he wasn't the Flames issue last season but can certainly be better.

He was ridiculously good at the start...stole most of the Flames first 10 or so wins but had a bad stretch after the injury. I expect a massive bounce back.

He was very good at the start of the season. Small sample but good

This bounce is guaranteed for pretty much any goalie with Sutter coaching

The blocking style goalie that leaves juicy rebounds is often saved by D that are on top of them.

I would like the Flames to be involved just to push up the price.

I like to think Treliving is in on the conversation just to get Oilers to pay an extra and sign longer because he had so much fun during the Markstrom sweepstakes. Don't think he will mind losing this one.

But they're meeting IN Edmonton, so he'll likely look around and run the other way.
The Oilers should really conduct meetings via Zoom until the ink is dry.

I very, very badly want to see Hyman locked in with the Oilers at $5m+ until he’s 37

Entice a player by inviting him to Edmonton..... maybe they should stick with Skype.

I guess they could always invite him over to McDavid's for a little 1 on 1, just need to lay off the high arc 3's.

I hope the return is huge. Something like the oilers give up their first round pick for leafs second round pick or something.

Hyman seems like a really useful player, with an absolute limit of a salary much lower than what he's going to get. 7 or 8 years at a big $ figure would be a bad decision.

That’s what I want.

Smith 2 years 2mil
Keith 2 years 5.5 mil
Hyman 8 years 5.75 mil
Nuge 8 years 5.15 mil

That over 18 mil spent and they only added 2 new players but lost larsson and Barrie. To me that’s worse and they added tons of cap risk and not much cap relief for Nurse contract next year. Could be a worst case scenario for oilers fans this summer because if this doesn’t work I’m not sure how they fix it or get better any time soon

I thought Edmonton was really well positioned to round out their roster this off-season with some available cap space that could have made a real difference.

…instead they went and Oilered all that money away. They coulda been a contender!

I really feel like you guys are jinxing this. Celebrate AFTER they sign him. For now, just concentrate on willing it into existence.

C'mon Oilers!

Let's sign Hyman for $50M over 8 years!
