Not a damn thing. Buffalo is adding in that scenario.

Calgary is not trading Gillies at this point. With Smith looking like the iffy quantity he was in Arizona the Flames need a goaltender to step in during the next 12 months, and that guy is Gillies. Gillies is still the future in net for this team, until one of the other prospects can step up take the mantle away from him. A Rittich/Gillies tandem looks like a pretty sure thing in the future. Can’t afford to give away any more assets trying to chase a damn goaltender when you have guys in your system that could fill the need.

Goalies are witches - there are no sure things. But that falls in line with your point, which is to not be too quick to trade Gillies.

I would trade Gillies in a package (he's not going to get a big return on his own) for a quality top six winger or center. Parsons is the teams top goaltending prospect so that makes Gillies expendable. It has to be the right deal but I would not have any issues with the team moving him.

Buffalo has nothing I think we should trade for. Worst team in the league is willing to sell. That's a big red flag. Why would we want anything from them? If they aren't good enough to play in Buffalo , the worst team in the league, I sure as heck don't them.

What scares me about Treliving is he might have the trading bug. His record lately isn't exactly stellar

Teams trade for players from basement dwellers all the time and end up getting a great player out of the deal.

Just because a team sucks doesn't mean all the players on it suck too.

Both the Flames and Canucks got burned big time on ex-Panthers players that performed well on bad teams. Then you get markets like Toronto where players are so overly hyped that they are rarely as good as their hype in other markets. I feel there's definitely some players on the Sabres roster that could help the Flames but there is some merit being cautious of players that excel on bad teams.

Of course trading for one of their players could go either way, that's what I'm saying. The poster I quoted wrote them all off like there is no chance any player from a losing team could ever be of any help to a good team, which isn't true at all.

Just because Buffalo may want to trade some players, doesn't mean they "aren't good enough to play" for them.

Yes. Justin schultz is a good example. Oilers dumped him and he blossomed quite well on the pens. The trick as usual is identifying the right players.

And the other part is, do you have the kind of organization that can turn around someone else’s under performing player? Are the Flanes that type of organization?

Right now I'd say no, they don't. Lazar would be one example i suppose.
