Putting Penn State in over Michigan is a joke. Why even play the regular season then? If you're using conference championships to differentiate between teams that didn't play each other in different conferences that's one thing. Including a two-loss team with a head-to-head beatdown AND an inferior schedule over another team is silly.
Note my objection is more to Penn State than Wisconsin. I could see the argument of Wisconsin over Michigan because of Wisconsin's win over LSU being solid and how close the Wisconsin-Michigan game (as well as how close the Wisconsin-OSU game) was and since it was played in Ann Arbor.

Cant that same argument be made Penn St over Ohio St.?

Here is an article looking at a few of the scenarios/teams. I like what they say about the Big 10 teams in particular.
Quote:
Last week, selection committee chair Kirby Hocutt said the gap between No. 2 Ohio State and No. 7 Penn State was significant. "I believe, to answer your question directly," he said, "does the selection committee see a small margin of separation this week between No. 2 Ohio State and No. 7 Penn State? We do not." Did the Nittany Lions' convincing win over Michigan State to clinch the Big Ten East Division help change that perception at all? It's important because if Penn State wins the Big Ten, the committee will consider putting in one or both. When teams are comparable, the committee will consider Penn State's head-to-head win over the Buckeyes and its conference title -- two advantages that will make it hard to leave the two-loss Nittany Lions out if the committee is consistent in its application of the protocol.

As expected
Michigan falls to No. 5 in CFP rankings after double overtime loss to Ohio State. Alabama, the Buckeyes, Clemson and Washington sit in the penultimate top 4.

Washington beats Colorado and those are your final 4 teams. If they lose, it will be interesting who gets in at that 4 spot. The Big 12 is out so it comes down to 4 teams IMO.
The winner of the B1G (Penn State/Wisconsin), Colorado or Michigan. Who wouldn't love to see Saban vs Harbaugh?
Should be a fun Saturday.

Championship weekend is here and it all starts tonight with the MAC and Pac-12 Championship.
If Colorado wins tonight, it will be interesting who the committee puts in that 4th spot. Will they pick Colorado or will the Pac-12 be left out of the playoffs for the 2nd straight year? Will two Big 10 teams make it?

A one loss team that plays one less game and doesn't have to put that record on the line against the #6 team in the country.

Exactly.
And it should REALLY matter who that one loss was too.
Last year it was always "gotta win your conference championship cause it really matters" from the pundits and iirc the committee. This year because it would eliminate OSU already, it just doesnt matter that much.
There is a very solid argument to put Penn St. in should they win today imo, but they wont.

Few stats on that Alabam defence.
Have scored 9 TDs this season and only allowed 12.
Have only allowed 6 plays by the opposition offence inside the 10 yard line in the last 2 months.
Haven't allowed a TD since Oct 22.
Have only given up 18 points in their last 4 games combined.

You can't rank Penn State ahead of Michgan.
meanwhile this Conference USA game is headed towards 150 points.

And that would be why? Because Michigan beat them? Same argument for PSU over OSU...and if somehow OK St. can beat OK this afternoon, then OSU's win against OK means very little which even weakens their case to be top 4 even more.

Michigan beat Penn State by 40.
I think Wisconsin has a greater case if they win.

I think the real question is who do Penn State or Wisc replace.
Are either better than Washington? We know Clemson is in if they win, most pundits seem to think OSU is in, Bama is a lock.
Michigan has no chance even if Clemson loses imo since Washington won.

So many blocks!
Blocked punt for TD for Bama then Gators block the pat and return it all the way.
