He's looked great. Looks strong on his skates, obviously very tall.
As mentioned he's had several great set-ups that weren't converted. He's looked very cerebral and has good vision. Good play-maker for sure.
Not sure his % in the dot but he just won a big faceoff with a minute to go and then created a chance for Shore.
Pretty exciting stuff.
On a side note, there was a real flash of brilliance from Oliver Kylington at one point. He had one zone exit where he looked like Erik Karlsson for a moment, beating three players a few different ways. What a great skater.

So what was the overall assessment of The Big Jankowski?
Pretty good. Was involved every time he was on the ice. With better linemates he would have had 3-4 assists. The Carroll reviewed no goal was actually a goal that was incorrectly ruled a no goal, so he should have had two tonight. The play in the first where he set Shore up should have been finished but he missed the net. Anyone else and it's a tap in.
Considering it was his first game and he's coming off being ill, that was as good of a debut as possible.

If Janko keeps playing the way he does he wont be down in the AHL for long this fall if at all...
Not sure I agree with this.
I am a big fan, and he looked good. But he still has to get stronger. He still has to learn how to be a pro. He still has to develop that first stride so that he has effective speed at the NHL level.
It was immediately apparent last night that his 200 foot game is as advertised, he was great on the dot, and he totally gets it when it comes to positional play.
But he needs time in the AHL.
Oh and, right now, he simply isn't as good as Backlund and Stajan. I believe it's only a matter of time until he is, but he isn't yet.

I agree he needs seasoning and it's what's best for his development but there are a handful of players including him that could replace what stajan brings to the ice.
Yeah Stajan really isn't much better. Experience and leadership only goes so far when you're completely invisible for an entire season. Stajan has 14 points, Jankowski could beat that next season imo.
Jankowski did not look out of place last night. Shore sure as hell did though, what happened to that guy?
I think Jankowski could step into the NHL quickly and contribute, but some time in the AHL will be best for his development regardless. Firstly, we'll see how much weight he can put on this Summer. If he can match the 15lb's Monahan put on he'll be in great shape. Although that's probably too hopeful as Monahan's end of season weight was down. Will likely be the first centre called up when the opportunity arises.
The slow and steady development path has worked out so far so no reason to change it up now. I do think Jankowski will be forcing their hand and be called up sooner then many are projecting however.
