The goal is to have a winning team. Maybe they'll get there but I want to see it before I crown Treliving.
Don't understand this obsession with the cap, it's pretty much irrelevant to the Flames right now. What have (or will)we missed out on due to our cap situation? Having too much cap space dedicated to players like Wideman for example doesn't matter if it frees up prior to us needing to use it.

Might make you feel better that we are finishing as low as we are, if you were able to say we weren't at the cap, but that's about all its good for. Failing to realize our worst deals are all about to expire, and failing to realize our best players are all about to get paid a few seasons before they truly earn their pay days is just ignorance to the Flames stage of development and the current environment.

I'm with you on not crowing Treliving just yet, that can wait until we see what type of team his management yields us a few years from now when our new core peaks. We won't really know until then just how well he did.

According to the Wes Gilbertson, Jankowski will play his first pro game tomorrow.

Technically won't his first pro game be next year... I mean the "A" in ATO stands for amateur.

And the 'T' stands for Try so he will "try" to play hockey.

I wouldn't say I'm obsessed with the cap. Just a concern that Treliving has handed out a lot of cap room to bottom pairing defenseman and 3rd/4th line forwards. At this point it doesn't really matter, but soon you'll have Bennett/Monahan/Gaudreau making real money and you can't make those same mistakes them.

To be fair to Treliving a lot of the bad money was here when he was hired... but I concur that with our young guys set to start getting paid more what they're worth it's imperative that we don't overpay for depth. I think the more damning thing isn't that he gave the depth players to much money but that he gave them to much term on top of it.

Scary fact our league worst goaltending has eaten 9.588M off the cap this year.

It simply means he's an amateur trying out. The league is still a professional league

As has been pointed out many times, the situation was very different then.

Also, Wideman was a Feaster signing, was he not?

Regardless, the situation is very different now, and everything that Treliving has done in the last 18 months suggests that he is in total control.

jankowski might have gotten his first pro point in his first pro game.

Carroll appears to have scored set up by Jankowski. Goal under review

He could have had two. He toe dragged around a d-man to set up Shore earlier but Shore put it wide.

For what its worth, Stockton Heat reporter on the overturned goal

Scott Linesburgh @ScottLinesburgh
I think they got that one wrong. The original call was correct.

It looked like a goal on the stream.

Good grief...this year has been filled with just terrible reffing. AHL, NHL...all filled with BS officiating.

Doesn't AHL Live cost like $170? And you can only watch your team?

It's been a while since I last checked.
