Tell me about it. This spread out schedule is killing me. The Flames have us all in the dumps, so it's up to the Heat to be this organization's good team, yet they never play.

Hey there my Back Burner friends,
I wrote a piece on why Kylington should be sent to the Wheat Kings: http://flamesnation.ca/2015/10/30/wh...on-wheat-kings
It seems to be a pretty hot button issue with a lot of fans, just as it was during training camp. There also seems to be a pretty even divide amongst the fan base with what to do with him.
All I know is he hasn't looked very good in Stockton.

I agree with pmm. Kylington looks okay offensively but defensily he's struggling. He's not making good decisions with that puck and that will only improve with lots of playing time in the WHL.

IMO Kylington wouldn't be challenged enough by kids to learn much of anything on the defense side of things. Better off where he is or even the ECHL but junior could be a step backwards for a kid who played pro against men for 3 years already.

If he is being overwhelmed playing protected minutes in the AHL, which he is; he can learn a lot by playing against the top players in the WHL. The guy has mostly played in a 2nd tier Swedish league, it's not like he was an SHL fixture.
Edit: I don't even know what I took your word for it, but Kylington has not really played pro against men fare r 3 years. Last year he split his time evenly between an under 20 team, the swe-2 league and the SHL. The year beforehand re split between the under 20 team and the SHL. The previous season all his game were with under 20 and under 18 teams. He has a whopping 67 games as a pro in Sweden split between 2 years and 3 teams

Just watched last night's game.
Kyllington never had a single situation where he struggled in his own end. Not one.
He did, however, use his speed or his skills on the first pass on multiple occasions to get the puck up the ice.
He didn't have a lot of ice-time but he played a solid game.

For the 2nd night in a row, the Heat got a full 2 minute, 2-man advantage in the middle of the 1st period.
And for the 2nd night in a row, they couldn't capitalize.
1-1 after 1. Shots were 10-7 Heat

Can Kylington break the record for most points ever for an 18 y.o defenseman? 23 points by Voynov is 08-09.
I think it will be pretty close but he'll be just short with 19-20.

That would make him 27th already, and 6th among defensemen

Yeah, it's Kylington's second goal.
Quote:
San Diego, Calif. – Despite another marvelous performance from goaltender Jon Gillies, the Stockton Heat drop a Halloween night contest in San Diego 3-2 to the Gulls when San Diego’s Max Friberg scored in the dying moments of the third to seal the victory for the home team. Gillies stopped 33 of the 36 shots he faced, while Austin Carroll’s first pro goal and Oliver Kylington’s second pro goal provided the offense.

Yes, he's 2G, 1A, 3P after 6 games.
4 more points would put him 3rd all-time for defensemen, behind Hampus Lindholm (44G, 1G, 10A, 11P)

Gotta admit, Kylington looked decent in both games this weekend. Outside of his goal, he looked a lot more comfortable.
I really hope that's what we see from now on.

I get such a kick out of the Stockton play-by-play guy. I'm listening to he San Diego feed (because of AHL Live) and you can hear him scream through the Gulls' play-by-play guy's mic in the background when the Heat score. He's friggin' nuts. It's been a while since we've had a play-by-play guy with that type of emotion.

I also thought Kulak was solid last night
And I started to notice Poirier using his speed as the game went on

Yeah, Poirier looks a little better. I'm still a bit disappointed in him lately, but it's early. He rang one off the post last night. That's something he hasn't been doing all year - shooting! Once Huska broke up the Poirier/Granlund pairing (which I liked), Poirier quit being so generous and decided to shoot more, which is good. That's when he was most effective last year. He shot from everywhere last season.
That top line of Agostino-Granlund-Hathaway is fun to watch. So much control and they create so many turnovers.
