So, Greg Hardy will be allowed to play Sunday?

Quote:
Carolina Panthers defensive lineman Greg Hardy was declared guilty by a North Carolina judge of assaulting his former girlfriend, Nicole Holder, in an incident that allegedly involved hair-pulling, slamming a toilet seat on her arm, and putting his hands around her neck. While he awaits the next step in his legal process, a jury trial, Hardy played in the team's season-opening game last weekend, and is scheduled to play this Sunday.

Hardy had an excused absence from Panthers practice Wednesday, but is expected to be available for Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions, coach Ron Rivera told reporters in a conference call.
Quote:
And the public has a major stake in this. As the Charlotte Observer points out, $87 million in taxpayer money went into the stadium where Hardy will be featured on Sunday. The newspaper's editorial board is calling for fans to turn their backs on Sunday if Hardy plays.

"The Panthers can say they are letting the legal process play out," the Observer states, "but it appears they just want to bulk up their pass rush."

The Panthers owner abhors that kind of thinking. But letting the legal process play out after a judge has ruled looks like a transparent effort to make it all go away. He can’t afford that perception any more than Roger Goodell can. This problem is not going away in society, and it is not going away in football. It might be showing up Sunday in Charlotte.

I thought the Panthers owner Richardson was in tears about domestic violence yesterday.

Richardson is one of the biggest #######s in the circle of owners. The guys is about as insincere as it gets.

In lighter news Charlie Sheen has pledged $1000 to the waiter that Shady McCoy stiffed with a .20 tip.

Also if the drug rule changes are approved then Welker will be allowed to play this Sunday.

According to Shady, the waiter was a dickhead and that's why he tipped him as such.

At least McCoy wasn't 15 cents short of being able to pay the bill.

I really have no desire to watch this game tonight, and it's only like 75% Ray Rice/Roger Goodell-related. These teams are terrible and TNF is terrible.

What's that I hear? It's rube's first "bitch about TNF" post of 2014. How many of you had week 2 for that? I didn't even think I'd make it through preseason.

Pretty sure everyone hates the Thursday nighter rube. But the Thursday nighter is a textbook example of why Goodell is going nowhere. Seemingly few fans actually enjoy it, but it makes the owners tons of money, so it's going nowhere.

Oh I know most people don't like it. I just know I pretty much bitched about it every week last year.

I actually like the Thursday night games because it gives me more opportunity to watch football and teams that I otherwise would not have watched. What I really don't like are the evening doubleheaders such as last weeks MNF.

I'll be watching tonight (my kid has hockey so I'll miss some of the game) because the Steelers are my team.

I like Thursday night NFL game. To me it means football Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday between the CFL and NFL. Win-win for football fans like me that can't get enough.

It's always good to watch the Steelers beat Baltimore.

Another blow to the Cardinals defense.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...rahams-career/

John Abraham is out for the rest of the season, suffering from a concussion from Monday's game. Appears he has memory loss, so this may be the end of his career.

i assume the above is related to the near consecutive personal fouls called on the secondary for high hits for receivers making catches through the middle....

if that hard hit preventative measure is going to be called as such this year, the middle of the field will really open up.

Steelers looked pretty useless last night. the number of times big ben get sacked is unreal.

I thought the attention given to the ray rice incident was fair and well represented.

I was shocked at how little attention was given to the fact that it was the anniversary of 9/11.

The NFL has never had a worse week...
