To add to that, the Heat have a sweetheart deal with the city of Abbotsford where the city absorbs any financial losses. I believe they have 5 years left after this season on that contract. PMM would know for sure. I've seen discussion on this board before about moving the Heat to Saskatoon or Regina but those cities don't want to lose their 'Dub franchises. For selfish reasons I'm glad the Heat are in Abby!

No one ever said they were nor even suggested such a thing.

Sven being sent down has nothing to do with the big club and everything to do with Sven not playing the way he needs to in order to be successful at the NHL level.

Its a very simple concept that so many seem to be unwilling or unable to grasp. His demotion wasnt just necessary for him to get better, it was best for the long term future of the Flames.

It really is better for Sven to be in a winning environment contributing everyday, instead of watching Veterans play out the stretch before moving on in a losing environment. Sven going a PPG and helping Abbotsford take a run through the playoffs would do way more for his development right now.

For those interested in how Sven has been doing on the Heat... well... not great...

8GP/2G/1A/-3

Hopefully he picks it up over the last half of the season.

I agree with your post except for the apart about no one suggesting such a thing - quite a few posters still insist that the Flames problems in not scoring would be helped if Sven was in the lineup

Hopefully he picks it up over the last half of the season.
Or, in his last 3 games he's got 2 goals and 1 assist. Nothing shattering but maybe a pickup after pouting or being hurt (feelings) for 5.

You're missing the suggestion. The thing he says wasn't suggested is that Baertschi was the root of the Flames problems. No one ever suggested that (well maybe someone did, but they were likely and hopefully ignored). But I think it's fair to say that, despite his lack of production in the AHL, he could add some needed skill to the lineup in place of guys like Galiardi and D. Jones. And possibly get him going too. Hudler, Monahan and Sven did look pretty great to start the season. And while we would all like Sven to score points, as I'm sure he would also like to be doing more, it's more important to develop his deficiencies at the point rather than try and boost his strengths. He has a natural offensive gift, and it won't go away once he learns how to play a proper 200ft game. But it will take a hit WHILE he's learning the 200ft game.

His last 4 games actually.

But true, that's a better outlook than the basic stats sheet gives.

Time to throw him out with the bath water. May as well toss out Monahan, Brodie, Gaudreau, Klimchuk and Porier too. If the Flames don't win the cup this year they may as well just fold the franchise.

Thanks, missed one game.
Also the heat appear to be in kind of a slump. Not a great time for Sven to be landing there either. That said, he needs to play through that, especailly in the AHL if he wants to be in the NHL.

I haven't watched any the games and am just basing my comments from the Heat Game Threads, but it sounds like the chances are slowly coming to Sven and he's starting to convert.

I'd be more interested to hear feedback from Troy Ward or other posters (PMM) about how he's played overall.

The kids been put through the ringer this year and it doesn't shock me if it takes some time to get the wheels all lined up. Kids gone from The Prospect of the team in April, to a rough Training camp, to still being considered the future of the franchise with Monahan, to being called out by Burke to playing on a hot line with Hudler/Monahan, to being benched, called out and demoted to Abbotsford.

I say give him 10 games to get his head focused on just improving and being apart of the Heat and then let's start analyzing stats.

I agree with what you wrote and I didnt miss the point

My comment was that there are posters who have suggested that the problem with the Flames now is NO SVEN

Yes but the OP was stating that there weren't any people that blamed Sven for the Flames problems, which is the suggestion you disagreed with and then said the bolded part as your disagreement. They're two different suggestions is my point. No one suggested Sven was the cause of the Flames problems (as the OP said), but there are people who think that having Sven back up would be a boost to the Flames (as you said). You don't disagree with the OP, was my point.

So, does his not being named to the Swiss team strike anyone else as further justification that Burke was correct in having him sent to the AHL?

I was a little surprised given the Swiss team's lack of premier scoring.

One of the commonalities with most successful people, is their ability to withstand and bounce back from rejection. Hopefully, Sven is one of those people.
