If XBox One and PS4 games are developed at 60 FPS does that mean you have to turn on the cinemotion/enhanced motion/smoothness options on your TV or can one leave it at regular 24Hz mode?
Any modern TV already runs at 60hz, the bull#### trumotion garbage does image tweening at 120/240hz, but virtually nothing supports that refresh rate save a really pimped out PC (as in, puts out a VSynced 120/240 FPS signal).

Okay. Thanks for clearing that up for me. I forgot that the image manipulation was for 120Hz/240Hz processing rather than 60Hz.
We should have a poll on here:
- Getting an Xbox One
- Getting a PS4
- Was getting an Xbox One, but now getting PS4
- Was getting a PS4, but now getting Xbox One
- Waiting till the dust settles

- What the hell is a console? I just bought 2x780s and I can't hear you over my 5760x1080 resolution!
Haha no I still only have 2x680-4GBs, but I do have a PS4 on preorder.
I'll be waiting for 8xx Maxwell series cards before I do another SLI-pairing (ARM chips on each card! Wooooo!).
Why two? A single 880 will be more than powerful enough for quite awhile. I'm looking forward to the 800 series so that I can finally dump my dual 460s and go back to a single card

Higher-resolutions typically require multiple cards, but we'll see when the first benchmarks come out.
Also, I want to be absolutely sure I can run Star Citizen at the most stupid settings imaginable.

You also need to include the choice for getting both

I have both pre-ordered but here is my plan. Right now it's looking like it'll be #3 unfortunately:
1. If I'm making decent money by November I plan on getting both.
2. If I'm not I'm just getting the PS4 since I like their launch lineup better and it's cheaper.
3. If money is tight I'll have to cancel both and wait.
Early to times, but it looks like the activist investor who wants the XBOX division sold/closed just got an open invitation for a board seat. Looks like their push for Ballmer to leave has already worked. I'm sure the terrible Microsoft Xbone messaging hasn't helped but it would be sad to see consumer choices be reduced. Kinda crazy that Xbone could theoretically be their last console.
By July, ValueAct was pushing for a seat on the Microsoft board, and also allegedly succession planning for a post-Ballmer world, Reuters reported. At the end of that month, Microsoft announced revenue figures for its Surface consumer slabs that were so poor El Reg termed them "shockingly hideous".
Now, Steve Ballmer is on the way out, and ValueAct Capital has the offer of a seat of the board.
Along with pushing for Steve Ballmer’s exit, ValueAct is also said to be trying to get rid of the Xbox division. The new shareholder actually believes that Microsoft would do better without it, and selling it to another technology company would allow Redmond to focus on its key products like Windows:
“Xbox is cool, but by our estimates Microsoft has not made money at this.”
Yup, the 22nd it is. One week after the PS4 in North America and one week earlier in the reduced countries that they are targeting in Europe. Surprised they couldn't get their ducks in a row to go way earlier. I was wondering why they didn't announce the date during PAX, I guess that's why.
Would have been massive to line up with COD release.
It would have been neat to release on 11/12/13 as well.
-CPU will be 1.75 GHz and not 1.6
-GPU clock speed to 853 MHz (up from 800)
-external storage will not be ready at launch but expect it soon after
-while not ready at launch developers will be able to run development code on any unit...not something new but I only recently read that.
PAX 2013 attendee polls - PS4 versus Xbone 180. About the typical 3:1 shown everywhere else. Honestly a little surprised given that this is in the US but certainly small sample size. Couple PC master race drops too.
These are just the hardcore nerds though, the unwashed Call of Duty dudebro hordes will massively swing the tide.
