He's no Virtanen, but can fill the role for a game or two. I was highly impressed with him last night and thought he could have been one of the 3 stars.
Tough night for both goalies last night. A couple of softies on both sides.

This could be a big blow to the Oil Kings, Reinhart is out tonight and has went back to Edmonton for further testing.

Full marks to Edmonton for the win, its now a best of 3. I believe it will go 7 games.
Couple of things:
1) I wish the refs would just these 2 teams play. Not sure if they made it there but in third period, it was tweeted, that the series was closing in on 50 combined power plays, that is way too many through 4 games.
2) I wish both teams would show up and play their best hockey these next couple of games. Neither team has put together back to back good games.

Halfway through game 5 in Edmonton. Brossoit's team is up 3-0.
Portland can punch their ticket to their third straight WHL final with a win at home tonight. They're up 1-0 about halfway through the first.

Brossoit's team wins 5-1. The Hitmen ruined his shutout with a late PP goal after it was already 4-0. Game 6 goes Sunday afternoon at 4:00 at the Saddledome.
Portland leads 2-1 after 2 in game 5 of their series.

The Hitmen have to start actually playing hockey, at least start skating, Edmonton had trouble containing when the Hitmen were more aggressive. Hard to see the Hitmen coming back in the series but regardless, they've had a heck of a season and they should be even better next year.

Portland just knocked out Kamloops, its Portland's 3rd straight trip to the finals. Can the 3rd time be a charm?

Edmonton doesn't feel like they are rolling the same way they were last year. My money would be on Portland regardless of who wins the East especially with Reinhart out.
Carruth, Jones, Wotherspoon, Rutkowski, Rattie etc will know this is their last kick at a Memorial Cup in Portland and the young talent on that team is really impressive. They are going to pretty decent again next year.
Was expecting to see them beat Kamloops but still a tough way to end for that group, if Leipsic and Petan hadn't emerged this year I think it would have been them winning the West this year. Will be interesting to see which 3 20 year olds play for them next year and where Lipon gets drafted.
Smith, Lipon, their top 4 d-men, Kornelsen and their goalie are all 19. If Colorado has any plans for Smith and Lipon gets drafted they'll probably be in the A and Edmundson is turning pro so probably 3 of Hansen, Hrbas, Grist and Cheveldave as I can't imagine Kornelsen would be kept over any of them.

Off to the 'Dome.
Can't lose either way... Hitmen win forces game 7, OilKings win and we get to see LB in the finals.

Hitmen are clutch, tie it in the final minute and win it in OT.
Edmonton's gotta be pooping bricks.
Hitmen win game 7 on Tuesday.

That was a gutsy come from behind win for the Hitmen, a game where the Hitmen really didn't much going on for most of the game. But the key was not allowing Edmonton to really use their speed advantage. If the Hitmen can somehow pull off a win in game 7, it would be a major upset.

Great win today, though Edmonton might have deserved better. We gotta put it up a notch on Tuesday.
Here's hoping the referees realize for once that the game isn't about them and let the teams play.

The men were terrible in the first period, but found a way to hang in there and stepped up thier play in the second and third.
I could not help but think the hit men are giving it thier all, while the kings still have something in the tank. All comes down to one game......

The Hitmen look bad when they are passively backing up, which is why game 4 was such a disaster, and a good part of their problems in game 5 and early in game 6. Calgary needs to dictate the play to succeed.

Both teams must dictate the play. If the Oil Kings fully use their speed they win handily. If the Hitmen are allowed to use their size and don't take many penalties they can win. I think the OKs win by two goals tonight but whoever wins will be in tough against Portland.

The pressure is all on the Oil Kings tonight. The Hitmen have to be salivating at the chance of upsetting the OK's andmoving on to the league finals. Getting the first goal and setting the style of play are a must if the Htem hope to win. Sylvester will have to be at his best as well as Driedger in goal.

1-0 OKs after 1.
I would not be upset if the Flames grab Curtis Lazar with the Blues or Pens pick.

Shutout for Brossoit. OKs win game 7, 2-0.
Rematch of last year's WHL Final. Brossoit vs Wotherspoon.
