Not today. Took the newly opened portion NB from Bow Trail down the hill yesterday. Boy that is going to be fun in the winter when the road is fully open and busy with traffic. No maintenance vehicles had been on it yet so it was a sheet of ice, fortunately with it being a single lane everyone was going slow and it wasn't an issue. But when it's fully open with multiple lanes and full speed it might be pretty entertaining.

Our sister building across the street had a water pipe burst this morning. The whole building had to be evacuated and a friend who lives there had water coming down through her kitchen light fixtures while water was also coming in under the door.

How long is your drive that it becomes a problem?

Did you use the back "claw" side first to score the ice before scraping it?

You'd be dead. Self driving doesn't work in snow because they can't see the lines.

You can say the same about most human drivers.

This crap is awful because you dont even have the good, dry snow on top to provide at least a little traction.
This is the stuff that Calgary folks like to make fun of west coast folks for not being able to drive when it "snows a little", when the reality is, this stuff is the crappiest thing to drive in. Give me 15 cm of fluffy snow in -10 weather over 5 cm of freezing rain / flurries.

Ah yes, the first snowfall where everyone is like "These are the new lanes now. We have three instead of four, and one of them is on the shoulder."

Sometimes the new snow lanes are nice to have. There was a section last night on Crowchild that was four lanes when it normally is only three.

And yet despite how wet it is outside, all of the moisture in the air seemed to disappear overnight. My lips and fingers have me feeling like the crypt keeper today

Crowchild South? That's the "We're taking over the bus lane and screw anyone who says otherwise!" lane.

Up in the NW actually. From Shaganappi to Nose Hill Drive. Basically people merging from Shaganappi just extended the right most lane which usually ends at 53rd.

Spoiler!
That stretch of 14th St SW between Glenmore and Anderson would not be absent the dark red sections in the days before the ring road. Nice to see the impact it has on 14th.

Snowhawk

Env. Canada is calling for 12 degrees on Tuesday. That would be nice for the kiddos.

My two weather apps are only showing 3 degrees. No need to put my summer tires back on just yet.

My weather app is saying "that's 6 days away, stop looking to me for info".

We really need the sun to come out so it can melt the ice sheets that are some of the pathways right now. I could damn near skate for half my commute.

No, I had an edge 'in' and thought that would do the trick. Then leaned too hard on it and snapped it.

I should have known better and 'clawed' it first.

I love this weather. Can bundle up to the right temperature and get a nice fresh wakeup on the way into work.

I'll take this over 35deg ten times out of ten, so long as I'm not on vacation by water.
