Tkachuk on the other hand couldn't get out of here fast enough, and this was just the best way for him to do that and still get paid. I had heard that the rumors that Tkachuk had indicated he'd welcome a trade in the 20-21 offseason were true, but the Flames weren't willing to sell low on him after the poor 20-21 season, which is what got to this point.

For all the blame being placed on Gaudreau the thing I always come back to is it's not like the team gave him a deadline either. Gaudreau gets all the blame for not making his decision before free agency, when really it should have been the Flames (Either prior to the season, or prior to the draft) that said "If we don't sign by x date then we have to look at other options"

Again, Tkachuk being upfront and honest about what he wanted is literally what allowed the team to plan accordingly and make the best move they could with the information they had.

Deep down Johnny always knew that he had to move to the eastern US for family reasons, but he just couldn't admit it to himself until the last minute. A more mature person would have reached that conclusion sooner and let the team know.

As for the team giving Johnny a hard deadline, that would expose the team to all kinds of criticism from the fans and media about "Why didn't you keep trying to sign Johnny after the deadline passed?" The Flames were in a no-win situation in regards to Johnny, and were going to end up with egg on their face no matter what.

How many years has Mcdavid wasted already? Kadri I has a better supporting cast, won a Cup and may énd up with more playoff success with Calgary in a shorter time frame. I would say McDavids time with the oilers has been a bigger issue.

About a week later, the day Cole was scheduled to travel with his teammates to Tampa to play in the Panthers’ rookie tournament, 49-year-old Jason Schwindt died by suicide at the family home in Breslau, Ont. It was not the first time Jason had tried to take his own life.

Jason Schwindt had always been a heavy drinker. In fact, the boys knew never to take a swig out of a water bottle in their house because there was a pretty good chance it would be filled with vodka. But the tipping point for Jason came when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, just as he had returned from a 30-day stay at a rehab facility. Jason was forced to temporarily close his graphics business and temporarily lay off employees he had come to see as family.

Sept. 21, 2021 was a sunny Saturday morning. With a baseball tournament being played in the fields behind his house, Jason went to the office. One of the employees noticed he was nervous and agitated. Then he returned home, with Laura doing chores and Brady enjoying a rare opportunity to sleep in. Cole was at Panthers rookie camp and Kai was in Mississauga after making the Steelheads as a walk-on. Jason went into the backyard, and ended his life.
Fellow Panthers rookie Owen Tippett, who now plays for the Philadelphia Flyers, rushed to Cole’s hotel room to be with him when Laura called to break the news. He had to come home from camp, and Laura said Cole has often lamented the fact that he left for training camp.

Actually I bumped it and it had nothing to do with the game. I couldn't find a Cole Schwindt threat.
