I think one thing is for sure is that the excitement generated of a World Cup berth let alone any kind of success (and indeed the success already achieved) is going to spur a lot of kids wanting to play which is only good for the future of Canadian soccer.

Hopefully the excitement of World Cup also generates more interest on the local professional game as well. It gives more opportunities to Calgarians like Sam Adekugbe or Scott Kennedy, rather than forcing them to move to Vancouver or play with 6th division Germany to get their shot.

If Cavalry are smart, they'll be marketing during World Cup watch parties.

The CPL is piggybacking on the pre-game show on OneSoccer today to announce the opening week matches and season format. Good idea.

I totally agree about Cavalry getting their fingers into this pie. I am still astonished that Edmonton FC didn't even try and capitalize on the Canada v. Mexico match - it was sitting there on a platter for them. Par for the course for them though.
