I don’t like any trade for Jonny that doesn’t have a chance of being a home run.
I’d shoot for a top ten pick like Buffalo’s #8 magic beans with a sweater as well.

Freddy Andersen is a one-year rental. He's the Leafs goalie.
Josh Anderson is an RFA. He's the big Columbus winger.

Tkachuk wanted a long term contract, but due to Flames cap situation, that couldn’t happen. Gaudreau could’ve played one more year in College and became a free agent but he signed here and ended up signing a long term deal as well, but I don’t see anybody singing praises about his commitment level. I think the captaincy will go to Tkachuk and it won’t even be close IMO. By the time it’s Tkachuk’s turn, he’ll likely be in his mid to late 20’s and will be even more mature than he is now.

Oh oops, you're completely right.
Probably even better as a new team acquiring him as he's coming off an awful year so he's probably looking for a prove-it contract.

Tkachuk's contract is, IMO, a black-mark on Treliving. That's going to be a tough re-sign when it is up. In hindsight, it looks really bad and Treliving should really have made the room somehow. I got that this team had 'something to prove' after their fantastic regular season and disastrous playoffs, but it may turn out to be a huge blunder in a couple of seasons.

Yeah, thanks, tips.
Kinda surprised the at the Leafs potentially shopping Andersen. He's one of the least of their worries.

They broke him.
He isn’t the same Andersen from a year or two ago. I’ve got no interest in Andersen at this stage, especially not at $5M.

I don't know, I watched quite a bit of Leaf games this year... Their D aren't exactly known for playing D. Makes me think he could be rejuvenated elsewhere behind a more solid defense.

It's why we've been debating trading Johnny this summer or at the deadline at the latest as his NTC next summer could make things very difficult.

He could mean it, doesn’t necessarily mean the Flames should be listening with baited breath.

Freddy Andersen would be a world-beater if he could get away from that Leafs defense. Would be a great aquisition if it weren't for that contract status, but maybe Brad can work some magic?Another Swede for our collection.
Josh Anderson is a no-brainer-get on it Tre!

^ Andersen is from Denmark, not Sweden FWIW.

BT isn't the only GM to have gone that route. I don't recall the exact timeline, but Matthews and Marner kinda effed the market for long medium term deals. Aho was an offer sheet.
Rantanen 6x9.25
Connor 7x7.142 - a couple years older and maybe a half notch below the other big RFAs last summer
Seems like a decent chance we secure more years of service within $1M of what 5-7 yrs would have cost last summer.

Help, save, whatever.
|
Because there are so many goalies UFA this year I think Andersen could be had for like a 2nd rounder.
Apparently the Leafs are thinking they then sign a lower tier UFA like a Griess to a 2 year deal 3 million per (?) then run with a Campbell/UFA tandem and save that capspace to use towards something else (defence).

Or what about a guy like Rasmus, or Backlund - guys who put in a very consistent effort.

There is no way you put an “A” on Tkachuk while thinking, there is no way we would ever want him to be captain. I would also saying the same about all assistant captains on the team.
But to say that chunky is not captain material is just way wrong. He wears the A for a reason. He is a leader on the team

Consider that you might not have been the target audience of the post. There were a few posts expressing confusion after both Andersen and Anderson were brought up simultaneously.
