I want Elvis Merzļikins.
Then again, I would be a terrible GM because I would just stock up on cool names.

It's always interesting listening to other players talk about Monahan. He might not chirp much on the ice, but it's clear that he is a leader and respected even by the older guys.

Help, save, whatever.

Apparently Andersen is being shopped as a dump maybe only looking for a draft pick in return. I could see him going to the Flames or Oilers.

Man, the Flames would be totally remiss not to pursue Andersen. He's a great goalie.
Edit: Although he is a 2021 UFA, so that's something to consider.

Maybe this has been said in the 50posts I haven't caught up on yet, but IIRC Seguin, ROR, and Johansen were all RFA at the expiry of their deals. They may have had fewer years on their 'value' deals, but you can't disregard the value of team control.

I really hope the Flames stay away from the Anderson rental. There will be a bidding war for him next year, and this team isn't in a position to win it in the upcoming season. He's a guy you acquire if you're on the verge of pulling it off.

Or Andersen?

I wonder what the acquisition cost would be for Josh Anderson.

Can't see it being much more than a 2nd round pick. A healthy Josh Anderson would be a perfect addition to the Flames top 6-9 forward group.
Someone called him Tom Wilson lite, and that's an apt description.

From what I’ve heard, Tkachuk isn’t exactly a respected figure around the league (unlike Gio). He’s not a hothead, true, but he is a bit of a troll (and we love him for it). I’m not sure he’s the one to deal with refs etc. Inside the room, who knows? I’m pretty sure Monahan is not the one firing up the team, by example or by words. But is Tkachuk? Or what about a guy like Rasmus, or Backlund - guys who put in a very consistent effort.

I never really thought rat type players should be Captains. And always thought Monny was being groomed for the Captaincy long ago. Either/Or, doesn't really matter to me but if I were a betting person, Monny will be the Captain when the time comes.

Frankly, I’ve always thought the players should choose the captain, and as long as the pick’s not grossly stupid, the coach should agree. I doubt players would have handed McDavid a C in his rookie year, or Phaneuf one when he was new to the team.

Connie was the one who made the decision to give it to Jarome. I believe he got it okayed by the coaching staff before doing it, but it was definitely Connie wanting to give it to Jarome.

Flames points:
97 (2014-15)
77
94
84
107
92 pt pace
Seems like a completely average year to me. We are who we are...a Jekyll and Hyde team, but never in the good way when the games matter in April.

Frederik Andersen? I'd be all over that I was Treliving. Or Josh Anderson, him too. LOL

Josh Anderson has 1 year left at $1.85M too with RFA expiration status, which is killer.
