Not really beneficial for either party for that matter. If he gave her something like that, it would probably piss of some Liberal MPs that were hoping for it, and she isn't powerful enough to make it worth it.
If she accepted it, it basically endorses a party that her own party tries to "steal" votes from during every election.
I could see he being appointed to the senate if she lost her seat as an MP though.

Might be good optics for a new PM.

For sure. She has a fair bit of support out here on the coast.

If they get exactly 169 seats I'd offer her the position of Speaker. That's about it though.

Canadian infrastructure is starting to become crap if it isn't already. I support deficit budget spending in order to invest back into Canada and take us into the 21st century. If that will be accomplished, I don't know, but it won't be done with the conservatives in power. Trudeau can raise my taxes a small amount if it helps those in lower income brackets. I've voted blue my whole life, but for the first time will vote red.

Also, I think Harper has been a terrible prime minister. It's time the conservative's pick new leadership.

Canada desperately needs a 2nd conservative option. The left has the Liberals, NDP and Greens (plus the Bloc in Quebec) to choose from when they don't like what is in front of them. The right has to hold their noses and vote for the same crap over and over because there are no other options. Either that, or vote against their leanings, which isn't easy for anyone to do. There is some room for the right among the Liberals, at least historically, but maybe too much bad blood there.

The right is terrified that if they purge the extremists that they'll end up vote-splitting again and never get back in power.

So what's the over-under on the amount of documents the CPCs shred in the early hours of Tuesday morning?

At least 1/4 of what the Alberta PCs did back in May/June.

There has really been a widening void for moderate/progressive conservatives as Harper and his reformers have pulled the party further to the right. I think that a lot of moderate conservatives are realizing that the nearest option to their beliefs is actually voting liberal, and that will possibly (probably?) be the Achilles heel of the CPC in this election.

Fiscally conservative but socially liberal voters are pretty common nowadays, and the CPC did a great job alienating them.

Seriously I'd rather have a proper Canadian centrist party rather than another conservative option. We had two conservative options before with the Alliance and Progressive Conservatives and how well did that work for us? There needs to be a Canada party much like the current Alberta Party movement that's popping up in Alberta politics.
What we definitely do not need is a two party system. That will just make it so much easier for the parties to slide rightwards because of corporate influence ala USA.

Yup. I'm a Paul Martin Liberal. I could very easily be convinced to vote for a hypothetical Conservative Party led by someone like Peter Lougheed. I will never vote for Harper and the current crop of ex-Reformers, though.

Maybe Harper will be on the phone to his old buddy Bush for advice on that.

You're kidding yourself if you think the Liberals left office with more paper trails to hide.

I don't know if it is just in Edmonton, but all the NDP lawn signs were upgraded a few days ago to add a STOP HARPER tag extension to the top.
I am still not sure how I am voting but for some reason these signs bug me. (I guess I am torn between Liberal and Conservative so they aren't really targeting me.)
