I haven't done the analysis on the trade, but does Seattle get more for Lee than they gave up for him 6 months later?
The truth is, Seattle received Smoak, a decent control-pitcher who may end up as a back of the rotation starter, and two crappy players. If Texas re-signs Lee, it'll look like one hell of a trade. But even if they don't, to only give up a 1B and marginal prospects for an ace is a great move.
Also, the Yankees were quite livid about not getting Lee. They thought they had a deal worked out, but Seattle decided they liked the Texas package better.

Blue Jays catching prospect J.P. Arencibia hit his Pacific Coast League-leading 25th home run over the weekend.
The 24-year-old Arencibia was selected 21st overall in the 2007 June MLB Amateur Draft and is batting an impressive .319/.369/.661 with 52 extra-base hits in 301 at-bats this year.

I agree 100% and heard the samething about the NY being upset that they didn't land Lee. Apparently they thought it was a done deal. I think this is a move the M's will regret. Smoak will be nothing great, a good MLB player but not great.

Instead of slow pitching she does the fast pitch windup and throws him the heater.. It was hilarious ... however on the next pitch he jacked one .. ( a slow pitch) ... ALSO M.C. Hammer is playing too and he just dropped a bomb LOL !!
61 Strikeouts in less than 43 innings a 1.01 WHIP, a 2.32 ERA...there are relievers in the game with far less impressive numbers than that. Plus in terms of interest...I guarantee the ratings would have been huge for Strasburg.
Anyways NL wins for the first time in 14 years. It was a game dominated by the pitchers for the most part. They must only be testing hitters for Steroids!

You were in the original Yankee Stadium prior to 1973? The one with the facade and the monuments to Babe Ruth, Miller Huggins, and Lou Gehrig in play in center field? I envy you.
Anybody see the highlights of the Dodger/San Fran game last night?
Crazy finish and a really weird rule I had no idea about.
"Dodgers hitting coach Don Mattingly, who had to take over after the separate ejections of manager Joe Torre and bench coach Bob Schaefer, went to the mound for a chat with Broxton before Torres came up. Mattingly took a few steps back off the dirt toward the dugout before turning around and advising first baseman James Loney what depth to play at."
This move counted as two manager visits and they had to go to the bullpen and Broxton had to come out of the game.
