It didn't really look that any team deserved to be the NC this year. Whether because of injuries, inexperience or just poor play there was no team that stood out and certainly no team that stood above the rest.
LSU gets to credit themselves with the "title" and say they are the best, something they seem to have no problem doing in the past depsite it being obvious there are better teams.
Next year if everyone can stay healthy it looks like there will be a lot of solid teams and a very good chance of getting a legit national champion again.

That's a bit of an exaggeration ... USC did have some injuries, but they didn't roll out 22 back ups. Injuries are a part of football, and well, stanford is still just stanford. Their coach within 24hrs of the start of that game was already giving "we are happy to just be nominated" type speeches.
