Hell of an effort. In it until the very end and with multiple chances to take it to extra time.

If you had told me 10 days ago that we'd be leading the tie going into the second half of the second leg a man down I would have laughed in your face.

We are gonna run the CPL this year.....

Proud of these boys. They played a terrific second half a man down. If I was pumas, I’d be disappointed in this result.

Told my buddy that the Cavs played as good as any MLS team would have in this situation. This team is playing A+ soccer right now for the level that we’re supposed to be in.

Sucks about the red card, but so proud of how the boys showed resilience throughout this entire game.

Great showing from the Cavs and tough result. Gave the Pumas all they could handle at the end and if not for some help from the official the game could have gone very differently. This team can play with anyone.

The way we were able to push at the end is what impressed me the most. To do that at altitude, down a man and only a few weeks into training for the new season made me so proud to support this club.

I think Cavalry's performance over these two legs is going to definitely get some attention in North American soccer circles. A guy like Warschewski who can hold up play against a team like Pumas and go at their defenders is such a testament to what the CPL is and is becoming. These diamonds in the rough that get a second chance in this league and run with it. Kobza is another great example. Without the CPL, he'd probably be in an office tower somewhere building a career away from the game.

Woke up this morning feeling like we watched something special in two legs. We showed we belong. No one is pining for the return of Concacaf League here. My only disappointment is now we don't have Cavalry football to watch until April (hopefully some open to the public friendlies in March).

Looked up the Canadian Championship Draw again. Boy, Cavs have got to be a serious contender now. Only one of TFC, CF Montreal, and Forge will be standing by the end of the Quarterfinals (or none if HFX does something really cool). Cavs didn't get drawn in the Whitecaps path and with the re-draw in the semis it's possible to not see an MLS team until the final since one will be going home in the first round. Cavs won't be scared of any of them. They've never been afraid of the Whitecaps and the Whitecaps are the best Canadian MLS team by a good margin. https://canadasoccer.com/events/canadian-championship/

Although the final result was disappointing, I am proud that they went there and gave it a go. I think that the red card was harsh, but I can also see why it was given. VAR can be helpful (Trafford), but when you freeze frame split-second actions, they tend to look far worse. There was no malice and he got a touch on the ball. To me, that's different than a cynical studs up tackle, no ball, etc. but they are judged the same when viewing it frame by frame. It would've been nice to see how the tactics played out as planned vs. having to play a man down for most of the game.

Carducci was on his game (and he had to be). They were always going to have to soak up the pressure, and even more when they went a man down. Considering the circumstances they were given, and the gap between the club on paper, they should feel proud of the effort.

I thought the ref had a shocker (his best Michael Oliver impression) but VAR got both red card calls correct. Trafford's was mystifying how he got called for the foul in the first place, should've been a Cavalry free kick. I thought Herdman's was deserved. No malice, it was an effort play to desperately get the ball, but he ended up going in high and with a straight leg through the ball and studs into the attacker. I see why others don't think it's a red but for me it was unfortunately.

The worst call of the match was the one at the end where Henry won the ball cleanly and then got cleaned out by the Pumas defender. Should've been a free kick 25 yards out in a dangerous position

Any time your studs go into a leg like that there is a chance you get sent off, I just thought a penalty and a yellow would be plenty enough punishment considering it was on a follow through, not a tackle, and it wasn’t even called a foul on the field. Slo Mo and still shots always look so much worse.

It wasn’t an egregiously bad call like the ones on Trafford or Henry though.

Yeah, lots of mixed emotions. Incredibly proud of how they played over two legs, but the result is ultimately disappointing.

If that red for Trafford stood, that woulda been one of the most egregious calls ever. Thank god for VAR.

It was always going to be tough with 10 men.

This was how I saw it too. It was a clean sliding kick that became a foul in the follow through... which I would argue was involuntary since it was a 50/50 ball that Herdman won.

Because it was in the box, I could see the PK being justified, and maybe a yellow too, but my understanding is the straight red is generally only for malicious plays (or if Herdman missed the ball clean). This was something that seemed to be missed later in the game where it looked like a Pumas player did the same, took out legs, and got no call at all.

Totally changed the game.

Still, most MLS teams would have lost 2-0 or more under these conditions, so these boys should be incredibly proud. Pumas players were pretty classless during the match and after. Which is a sign they were taking the Cavs seriously.
