I thought Pelletier looked good, was happy he got to make his debut. I don’t know why Sutter insulted Pelletier even if he was really just trying to get at a media member.

Also, the Flames played great! Vladar was very solid, and I was super happy to see them get a big win.

Sutter purposely screws with the media, it's something people here always mentioned as something they love about Sutter. For some reason I don't understand, that narrative changed this year

I never got why people were upset about the “taking a dump” comment either.

Clearly a joke as well.

Sutter’s a farmer, he’s going to be crude like a farmer might from time to time.

But that instance too, he clearly got EXACTLY what he wanted. He took any embarrassment upon himself instead of the player. He “diffused” the situation. Just like he did today.

Honestly, Eric Francis is a much bigger deterrent to guys wanting to sign here than Sutter could ever be.

There clearly is a trend. It's inherent to Sutter's approach. You can like his approach, or dislike it. I'm not a huge fan of it. But you have to acknowledge it exists. Just like you have to acknowledge this has always been how he's done interviews — which, again, you can be a fan of or not.

The common refrain in this thread has been "It's as if you've never seen a Sutter presser before!" Of course people have. That doesn't mean they have to like how they work.

Missed the game today due to Chinese New Year stuff with the fam, and jumped into this thread to see that CP hasn't let me down... My opinion, Sutter's response had nothing to do with Pelletier and had everything to do with the reporter. He recently shared some off the record things Sutter said after a press conference, so my guess is Sutter found out and is being a dick to him. But wow, talk about over-reaction on here! It's as if you've never seen a Sutter presser before!

Sutter is good at putting the heat on himself instead of the team when he feels they need it. We have half the fans on here and the twitter mob anointing prospects as saviours which is definitely not a fair position for them to be in. He didn't even say anything bad about Pelletiers game.

Sutter's comments will have as much impact on future players preference to play or sign in Calgary as much as the fart I just ripped. What a ridiculous tweet.

Just because a group of media persons want to make a mountain out of a mole hill doesn't mean they are right.

Bill Clinton killed a guy, I thought it was a matter of record. It's so obviously a shot at the media and they fell right into it. Watching the fans and people with an axe to grind against Sutter eat it up is magnificent.

There is clearly a lack of willingness to play youngsters - one of his biggest supporters in Rhett Warriner even just called it out.

There is clearly a bias towards bigger players - for Sutter he's clearly not a fan of the risk of a young, small player. Proven NHLer then sure he will deal with it, but I don't think he wants to be the one to find out if a smaller player can cut it.

And there is clearly some disrespectful trends towards these young players in the media. You can say that it's him trolling the media, or that he's always done this, but it doesn't change the fact that the narrative is out there in NHL circles now.

So yes there is a "this". Eliotte Friedman already made mention of it two weeks ago, and it seems to be even more widespread now tonight.
