All he was really saying is that 6 1/2 minutes and one hit and one shot, he wasn’t really noticeable (using props). There needs to be more and he has a long way to go. One of this is untrue.
In fact, in the long run, it might be better than saying
“He was unnoticeable. Has a long way to go”
Sutter takes all the heat
People getting offended too easily

Sutter playing Pelletier in the third period is disrespectful.

Even if it is a way to get back at Salim as some are saying, shouldn't we hope that our league veteran coach has more savvy and professionalism than cracking back at a guy publicly over a rookie? Its pretty bush league and definitely unprofessional. If it's just to get at a reporter, then it's absolute proof that he's unfit to ever be a GM again.

If you can’t tell that Daryl Sutter is joking… that’s on you. Not Daryl Sutter.
Leads off by asking what number is he? Reads off his stats? He’s clearly trolling the stupid media questions. Obviously you can’t read A SINGLE THING from that conversation about what Daryl thinks of Pelletier.
But most of all, Daryl is a master of taking the focus of the media, so the media doesn’t have to be hard on the team.
|
We still have people here that think his joke about taking a dump was meant to be taken seriously.
Sutter purposely screws with the media, it's something people here always mentioned as something they love about Sutter. For some reason I don't understand, that narrative changed this year

Some of you guys act like you’ve literally never heard Sutter do a post game, ever.

Even when he says some nice words while also talking about his bizzare obsession with size he needed to take a dig at Matthew Phillips for no reason. Continue to crap on undersized young players and people think a top prospect isn't going to notice?
I would say as long as Sutter is here there is zero chance Coronato signs.

Awesome to see the team not fold after the two quick goals to go down 2-1 in the second, like we've seen so many times this year.
As for the Sutter comments, his delivery sucked, but seems clear to me he's just maneuvering to temper wild expectations in a hot hockey market over a middling prospect. Having heaps of media pressure and fan expectations are not going to be success factors for Jakob Pelletier. Sutter just bumbled it, and came off poorly.

Geoff Ward was the polite with the media coach we all loved and needed. Shame that relationship came to an end so soon. Even other team’s prospects would be clamouring to come here with how positive and nice he was.

He's been talking out of his ass for a while now. "Sutter wants to be GM" was some pretty silly ####.
Haynes has been a "pulse of the nation" type of reporter for a bit now, too. Gilbertson hasn't been relevant for a minute.
And of course Francis as the catalyst is just the nut on top of the turd.

Lol first round pick, canadian World Junior team member, and point per game in the AHL.

How about Rob Kerr, Wed Gilbertson, Randy Sportak, Cam Robinson (Elite Prospects website) and many more.
Or all those guys hacks too?
Its not just Calgary media at this point either, seeing people call it out right across the NHL.
This wasnt just the normal Sutter being a crank press conference.

Thought Pelletier looked good out there in his limited action. One problem he may have is that he is one of the fastest forwards on the team. That may work if we had an elite passers who creates offence east/west rather than north south because it could create seams for a passer like that to create offence off the rush. But all our guys are north/south guys who like generating off the dump and chase and the cycle.
Thought the Flames overall played well. Seemed like Vladar had to make about 8 or 9 big time saves, he may not have faced the shot volume but he made a number of timely saves. 8-0-3 in his last 11, nice to have a backup keep us in the playoff hunt. Backlund line was great again, generated a lot 5 on 5. Lindholm’s line had a pretty good game too. Thought the Kadri line was the weakest of the top 3, but once they get their north/south game going with a solid dump and chase and grind it out on the wall they will hit their stride.

Oof...I wanted to address this because you are so, so right.
Man, they got that 1-0 lead, then they got that full 2 minute 5-on-3 where they did nothing and then shortly thereafter in the 2nd they're down 2-1? Plus a bit of an iffy 'kick goal.'
I thought you would be able to see the cheap tent folding from Space.
How often have we seen it this year?
So when they fought back to tie and then lead? I hope they bottle that feeling and remember it when they're down. To know that they're always still in it.
If nothing else thats something extremely positive that we can take out of this game. Because fighting back from a deficit has been a quality this team has been sorely lacking this season, so being able to do it and then win against a top team in the League? Now that should boost some confidence.

I actually don’t disagree with posters saying that Sutter could be a deterrent for young players wanting to sign here. His reputation as a tough coach is well earned.
I just think way too much is being made of his post game comments, which are way more about what he thinks of the media and their narratives than what he thinks of the player.
His attitude towards the local media also breeds resentment that results in some of the criticism he’s getting from them tonight. Compare that to Hartley who was a prick to the players but the media loved him.
