Obviously there is more to defense than surface stats, and I would think Larsson is considerably better in other aspects of the game.
I am not an advanced stat guy so maybe someone who is can post a hero chart or w/e.

An NHL Dman for a 3rd rounder? Seems too good to be true. I guess the catch is Stone is coming off an injury and is having an off year.

Wasn't New Jersey given their 1st rounder back, but it was the 30th pick?
I like the trade in its whole and if Stone can play some strong hockey then... We're probably still a bubble team. Damnit! Baby steps I guess.

Sure is a lot of conjecture in this thread about a guy who hasn't played a single game for us yet.
Also why the hell does anyone want Bartkowski suited up for any non-AHL game? He's literally worse than Wideman, even factoring in the Effect.

There's not many guys that are worse than Wideman right now. Bartkowski is better than Wideman right now.

How do you figure?
He looked decent against the Canucks.

do you want a player on your team that checks out when the going gets tough?
says something about his character if true.

It's interesting because Stone and Bartkowski are similar cases.
Stone had two good seasons in Phoenix, got hurt, and now looks bad this year.
Bartkowski had two good years in Boston, moved to Vancouver, and played poor enough for them that he found himself in the AHL.
If either or both of these guys can return to their previous form then the Flames could have really upgraded their defender for the cost of just a 3rd rounder.

Yeah, all that stuff about recovering from major knee surgery was just a pathetic excuse.

Watching the very few highlights I could find of Stone he kind of reminds me of Sarich. A little sneaky and on occasion catches forwards with nice solid clean hits

What I want to know is why cool people have to overuse the word literally. The word literally literally means nothing.
He's literally worse than Wideman.
He's worse than Wideman.
Both mean the exact same thing. Literally.
Literally is the 2017 version of Valley Girl 'like totally". It's what the stupid person says when they want to sound smart.
Micheal Stone was like totally awesome when the Hitmen won it all in 2010. He like totally did it all.. Score. Hit. Defend. Lead. He like totally got the job done. Like totally.

Can anyone who has watched him closely this season address the question of how his season ending knee injury and surgical reconstruction has impacted his skating and mobility?

I'm sorry that the word "literally" chaps your ass so much, but in this case it's true. As awful as Wideman's metrics are, Bartkowski's are much worse. Players don't instantly become good because they are traded or sign a contract with the Flames.
Sorry for triggering you I guess.

Treliving 960: Mike has really come around in his game the last 6 weeks of season. We have been watching him alot. Maloney is there checking him out. It can take a year to recover from a knee injury like that. We think he is a good fit.

Why don't y'all, you know, like literally watch him play over the next 20 games and then decide if he's worth a 3rd rounder in a weak draft or not.
Same with Bartkowski if he plays. We've seen what we have in Wideman. Time to evaluate some other options.
