It probably did go to the rep at the BoG meetings.....3 years ago. They just haven't learned their lesson yet and the league is getting fed up with it. I'm almost willing to bet that something happens and the oil draft 10 or higher.

I don't understand the problem. They hired an AHL coach to take over an AHL team. Makes perfect sense to me.

No chance whatsoever.

The right move but wrong timing (imo should have been done months ago or wait until the end of this season) and brutal messaging (Nelson on tryout?? wtf). Typical Oilers, never change.

One thing to consider with candidates is that if Edmonton wants a big named coach, it's hard to see one accepting the role mid-season. I would assume a Bylsma/Maclean or whoever know that if they can have the job now it's probably going to be there in 4 months barring some unexpected turn of events, and know they'll need a full training camp at the minimum to cleanse the Oilers of their habits and have them trending in the direction they want. This obviously isn't an overnight fix, and they know Katz and company have a nasty habit of looking at their watch and tapping their feet every 10 seconds.

Why do you think that? I'm not saying I disagree but I'm wondering about your rationale.

Best part is bringing Kelly Buchberger back to be an assistant coach in OKC.
As much as they change, they really never change.

Because as much as the term "tanking" gets thrown around on this site it just isn't done.
No one plays to lose. If that were the case they would be trading guys away for scraps to try and lose. They are not. They just suck.

Right. Tanking by a team means trading/scratching the good players. Starting backups at odd times.
I mean, I suppose players could try to lose, but even if that happened you could never prove it.
The Oilers are just no good.

Eakins offended some players with letter warning them to be in shape when they came to camp in first year. Got off on wrong foot...

He also offended Mulletville's media by taking away their donuts.

Who do you trade from the team who has lost the most games, to get better losers???
The reason they likely aren't trading away players is because there aren't any teams willing to trade scraps for losers.

Players don't play to lose, but organizations can.
Maybe they aren't trading guys away for scraps, but it has been clear for a month that they are the worst team in the league, and yet they have made no attempt to fix things.
Their lack of action speaks volumes.

That's too bad. Wouldn't want to upset the spoiled brats club and take them out of their comfort zone. Only the finest diapers for Darryl's little princesses.

Agreed.
For me, the interesting question is whether the league has the power to do something should they become convinced the Oilers are not making an effort to be competitive.
The league took away NJ's 1st rounder for cap circumvention, but that was for a legislated offence. Is there a similar offence for "tanking"?

Professional athletes offended that they are expected to be in shape.
