A failed coach and soon to be failed GM takes another crack at failing at coach again!
This team tanked for Nugent-Hopkins, and Failed for Nail, to imbue the franchise with bad karma and a loser mentality...
One of the architects of this mess is stepping into the pile again as they once again are tanking to get a "franchise saving, once in a lifetime" draft pick...McDavid.
I truly hope the fates laugh at them and, somehow, they miss out on BOTH McD and Eichel...
IMO, tanking is akin to game fixing, and those involved deserve prison time!
At any rate, Dallas Eakins, who had nothing coherent to work with, and a front office committed to getting a top draft pick, gets the axe...the guy had no chance...and at least he will see the rest of the Oil hierarchy swirl down the crapper behind him.

Any chance that the 180 done by Crash MacTipsy comes after the Oilers potentially got a phone call from NHL head Office telling them that tanking the remaining 60 games would NOT go unpunished in some form????

I wouldn't be surprised if there was some truth to that. I can't imagine how 29 GMs could sit there and watch the Oilers keep getting the best chances at the first overall pick every year.

You went and got an AHL coach to replace your terrible AHL coach???
Never learn and if this guy doesn't go .500 for the rest of the year, it's going to prove the roster is No Good.

That's an interesting thought, but I think if something like that happened there would be more leaking of information related to it. I also don't think that would go to the GM, it would go to the rep at the Board of Governors.
