Back in reality the Oilers have the 2nd lowest goals for in the Western Conference with 72, 1 ahead of the last place Sharks. League wide they are the 3rd lowest scoring team only 1 goal ahead of the Rangers and Sharks.
Pretty interesting

So when the "They have no defense and less goaltendending" line of attack pretty much turns out to be BS, you resort to the "They can't score" line of BS. For weeks/months I read on CP that the Oil had some of the worst defense(men) in the league and NO starting goaltending. They kinda shut most of you up thus far and now it's "No offense". Pretty interesting indeed.

Was he wrong in saying it? They have one of the lowest gf in the league even Calgary has 10 more goals with a game at hand.

Their defense is bad and their goaltenders are terrible and they can't score either. That's part of why they're a terrible team. The other part is the bad management.

What did he say that isn't true? The Oilers ARE the third lowest scoring team in the league. What I think must be truly horrifying to Oiler fans is the fact that their defense and goaltending has probably been playing a little over their heads. If it (the defense and goaltending) falls back to earth that team could be in a world of hurt.

The Oilers are actually behind last year's pace where they had 31 points after 30 games and were in 9th place. This year they're in 13th and 29 points in 30 games. It's probably a bottom 3 team if given an 82-game season to suck. With 48 games, they'll probably draft 7th to 9th or so.

-Lando has proven nothing as a leader (COL still stinks healthy) can't get on Hall's level offensively yet (way behind Hall's 2nd year pace) and now has a concussion on his resume (huge injury risk...much like Hall)
|
you mean an injury risk kind of like RNH?
Landeskog played a full 82 games in the NHL in his first season
Landeskog is not proven as a leader yet a team chose to make a 20 year old their captain....
Colorado being bad is his fault (or his failings as a leader, not sure which one you meant)
you and other Oiler fans keep pointing out this offensive pace etc.
Seguin and Landeskog are much more complete players than Hall and RNH, who knows who is better in 5 years, but right now it looks like they took the wrong 2

I'm a Flames fan and I think that Hall is the better player. Not by a wide margin or anything, and Seguin could certainly end up being the better of the two in the future, but right now, I have to give it to Hall. Really though, there is no doubt in my mind that the people saying Seguin is better would be the same people saying that the Oilers should have drafted Hall had they picked Seguin instead. At the very least, it is ridiculous for people to be saying that Hall was a bad first pick at this point, even if you do believe that Hall is the marginally better player.

They're still delusional about Hemsky though. Who would trade for that guy when he is owed 5.5M with a 5M cap hit next year? For a guy that has never been great defensively and is a half point a game player. And then there is his legendary ability to stay healthy.

This is going to be hard to believe, but the Oielrs lost again. Their record has dropped to 11-13-7.

Interesting.
Gee, I wonder what their record is compared to all the other Canadian based NHL teams?
If only there was a place I could go to get regular updates.

Unfortunately, the thread is closed now. A vocal minority of posters did not appreciate the thread topic, and started conspiracy theories that I was posting the results after every Jets win.

Who was saying that the Oilers looked like a bubble team? Like the Flames the only bubble they're going to see is the one that pops up when the Toilet flushes on their season.
As a team they've showed no real progress except for goaltending which has kept them in games and given them a bunch of points.
They have no finish, they're poor offensively badly coached and their defense allows a ton of shots.
To me like the Flames they've taken a step back.
They're well on the way to a chronic losing culture, that the players seem to be accepting.

Its even more pathetic than all of that, considering that the Oilers are the worst 5-on-5 team in the entire league with only 39 ES goals in 31 games. That is less than 1.5 ES goals/per game, and it is the League worst by a wide margin. The Oilers are the only team in the NHL yet to hit the 40 goal mark, and this lags behind the next team on the list, San Jose with 45. Only five teams in the NHL have fewer than 50 ES goals.
As bad as the Oilers appear in the standings, it is even much worse in actual fact. Only Florida has won fewer games overall, and has more regulation/overtime wins than the Oilers, who are the lowest-winning team in the Western Conference.

Thank you.
I guess that explains why that particular thread was up on here for two years, with 17 pages of comments. Additionally, there is no need for personal insults. Grow up.

Haha, and just in your precious thread you insulted Textcritic (Or tried to?) with a personal manner, and now you're here telling people to grow up. You do not make any sense to me.

I would have thought the Oilers would have gelled by now with all those highly-touted prospects. Surely they only have a 2 or 3 year window to contend before they get into cap-ceiling territory.
Hall is playing at a PPG pace which is impressive for his age, Gagner is nearly at PPG. Yakupov is having an ok rookie season. I'm surprised Eberle & RNH aren't putting up better numbers; they are the ones that have impressed me the most in the past. Is there any explanation for their sub-par season thus far?
