My boss (Vancouver based organization) is a massive Whitecaps fan and heading to their game tonight at Starlight. I think the Whitecaps can beat Tigres. MLS sides have the same problem as us and not being in mid season form

That’s awesome! I’m gonna be there for 3 nights as well. Thinking of actually heading out to check out a Blue Jays spring training game when I’m in the area

Forgot about the Jays - maybe we'll have to check see them too! Also, the flight back on the 28th - through Montreal and then back to Calgary. Lesson learned, don't wait until 2.5 weeks before booking everything - all the cheaper flight paths back to Calgary are virtually gone.

Also Triston Henry won't be playing in the Forge / Chivas games. Heard he has gone AWOL.
Like any Cavs supporter, I am no Henry fan but hope everything is ok with him.

Even though Cavalry hasn't played yet, and the "home" game in Victoria aside, I am liking this new Concacaf Champions League already.

Last night I watched a random match that I normally wouldn't have bothered with: FC Real Esteli from Nicaragua upset Club America from Mexico 2-1. The home fans were loving it.

It is exciting to know that Cavalry gets to participate, and that means a trip to Orlando already. But in future rounds (dare to dream) or future years, that might mean watching them play in some interesting places across the continent. Good for the club, the league, and the players.

Still annoyed at the home pitch situation (surface, climate, etc. - I get it) and I hope that it gets sorted for future years, but it is still neat to be part of it.

For what it's worth the rumours are around his contract and potential interest outside of CPL.

Well in that case, F him and F the Forge! May it be mutually detrimental to both parties.

I hope he leaves the league. I can’t stand him and his five-head.

I have a feeling that if the Concacaf Champions Cup becomes an attractive (and lucrative) situation for ATCO going forward (in addition to the growing popularity of CPL and the Canadian Championship), they'll do the right thing and heat the field eventually. They definitely have the money - just a hunch, but they need to see the carrot up close first.

Do they even use the "Meadows on the Green" for horses anymore (or whatever its non-soccer name is)?

It feels sacrilegious to even suggest it... but artificial turf has come a long way... it would make sense for the climate we're in. I feel dirty. But I think a business case could be made for it.

I hope they keep natural grass, it's a Spruce Meadows hallmark! Upon second thought though, they could (and should) roll this heating technology into the new stadium that they have planned in the long-term. They're already currently prepping the site works in the centre of Spruce Meadows for this new facility anyways, so there'd be some opportunity there...

They do use "ATCO Field" as a equestrian venue. Watched jumping there on Canada Day.

Forge lose 3-1 in the first leg to an understrength Chivas side. I'll take it.

The Mexicans never got out of first gear, and still won comfortably. It is ridiculous to have two teams so greatly mismatched play each other over two legs.

Nah, it'll be nice to watch Forge get thumped twice.

What's up with this plastic pitch? How did the Whitecaps get permission to play on this? Looks like an indoor tennis court.

Forge decided man marking and defending was optional last night (great to see) and Whitecaps can feel hard done by with only getting a draw against Tigres
