I know it would be fun to watch McDavid beg for an exit, and leave the Oilers as a dusty husk of coackroach carapaces, but do we really want to see McDavid end up on an actual good team? That'd be rough to compete against. Maybe if he hadn't chosen to sign for 8 years in Edmonton. But that was his decision, and I'd like to see him stuck with it. Then maybe sign for another 8.

Sad part is we lost three games to two teams who are at best league average. This could get really ugly in a hurry.
Gawd, that fan base is stupid. After making the playoff once in the last 14 years maybe you think it would dawn on them that it is the Oilers who are at best league average. Except they aren't, they are much worse than league average. What other NHL team has the kind of record of one playoff appearance in the last 14 years.

Can someone explain their "decade of darkness" to me? Hasn't it been like 20 years? Are they just cherry picking 10 seasons within the perpetual no-goodness?

He like Sather relied so much on past glories and Edmonton bought it. love to see it. They are both Al Bundy reliving the 4 TD game at Polk High all those many years ago.

Taylor Hall has passed McDavid and Draisatl to tie the league lead in points with 6 points in 3 games, which is as many points as Larsson had last season in 49 games.

Reading through HFOil, there are two sentiments
Tippett might need to go, he's mishandled the lines and has lost control of Connor who supposedly refuses to let Tippett reunite the DRY line. He's also lost in terms of best using the talent available to him.
Holland is taking heat because all of his new aquisitions are completely sucking and the Blueline is awful.
There's a conspiracy theory now that Conna is doing more coaching then playing, and making the lineup decisions. He's also unhappy with the fact that he has no good wingers.
In all but one game, McDavid has been pretty much non existant to awful. It doesn't help that when he's not scoring he'sliterally a detriment on the ice.
Draisaitl hasn't looked great, he's had some flashes, but he looks disconnected.
JP's start has shown that he's exactly what we thought he was, he doesn't have the hockey smarts of an NHL player.
The opinions on Bear and Jones have varied widely. from they're both awful, to its not their fault
The Oiler fans opinions on Nurse are extremely harsh. But he has been tremendously bad as the teams number 1 defenseman. Bring in Bouchard they scream
Its not Koskinen's fault for the most part, he's been abandoned by the team. Holland needs to take heat for a bad goaltending situation.
Some fans believe that this team is way too talented to be this bad and its merely a slow start. Some are sadly realizing that this isn't a good lineup.
So to summarize, Holland is on the hot seat. Tippett must go, Conna is doing too much meddling, Drai looks bad, the blueline is awful and Bouchard needs to go in, and its not Koskinen's fault.
Awesome.

The ignorance is astounding. They have made the playoffs once in 14 years and they have the gall to look down on franchises like the Canucks and Flames that have had had considerably more success over the same timeframe. If the Flames are league average that means the Oilers are below league average yet they don't seem to understand that.

Lol, they don't seem to realize that, when good teams are in a slump and getting beat by a team that shouldn't be beating them, they're THAT team that other teams believe they shouldn't be losing to.

Coaching: they went through a list of coaches that were historically bad, peaking with Dallas Eakins. I mean, it was hilarious. But their last 2 coaches have been Hitchcock and Tippett, both excellent coaches. Yet nothing has changed. So have 2 excellent coaches both #### the bed, or is it possible - stick with me here - is it at all possible, that maybe coaching isn't the problem?
Koskinen: is what he is, a mediocre goalie. The Flames and Oilers have both had mediocre goaltending for so long, a lot of fans can't even remember what great goaltending can do for a team. Markstrom is reminding us. The difference between Markstrom and Koskinen is probably 5 to 10 pts in the standings.
Nurse, Bear and Jones: it isn't their fault, they are being put in roles they can't handle. If we threw Valimaki into Gio's role, he would struggle with it. That is why you ease defensemen into their roles - defense is hard, and is an acquired skill. Asking Nurse to be the #1 defender is like asking Ryan to be a #1 C. They have no chance of success. But that isn't their fault.
McDavid: if he is in fact running the show, is there anyone who is surprised? This is year VI Of Our Lord and Savior and they are still a tire fire. Six years to build around McDavid and Draisaitl and they have not progressed AT ALL. Of course McDavid is pissed and is making lineup demands.
Edmonton is astoundingly no good!

My son forgot the Edmonton team is called the Oilers, so decided to call them the Orange Raindrops. I think that's going to stick in our household.

I'm not even biased, but I think the orange Oiler abomination of a jersey is the worst looking jersey in the league (if we're just judging on normal jerseys and not special third jerseys). When the had the blue one, I begrudgingly thought it was pretty good looking. Now though, I can honestly say that orange pylon looking one is terrible.
