It doesn't happen often, but it does happen. Tampa and Montreal played back to back nights against each other two seasons ago in the playoffs. Washington and Boston have done it. In 2011 Boston and Montreal had game 6 and 7 on consecutive nights. Later in the playoffs Washington and Tampa had games 3 & 4 on back to back nights, with game 4 being the 3rd game played in four nights.

In 1988 Calgary swept the season series with Edmonton and finished higher in the standings before being swept in the playoff. My prediction for this year: Edmonton sweeps the season series with Calgary and finishes higher in the standing before being swept in the playoffs.

I don't think it matters who the Oilers play. My expectation is that they will be out in four or five games.

Agreed. A worn out goalie and decreased playoff penalty calls are a recipe for disaster.
I'm also still holding out hope they have a massive collapse and miss the playoffs by one point however.

For shame on all of you. You guys are totally forgetting there is a dedicated vehicle made just for that purpose. The Oilers' team bus. How could you forget this beauty pic?

After all of these years, I've never understood what the point of that picture was. It's not like Smyth, Weight, Marchand, Salo etc.. was EVER going to get it done. Oh, but seeing Lowe with hair is nice. Kind of nostalgic-like.

the vast majority of oiler fans don't care who they play or how fast they get eliminated. after 10 years of crap hockey, this year they're just happy that the playoffs are part of the conversation.

It looks like Lowe and MacT have aged 40 years since that picture which is probably in the neighborhood of 12-15 years old. I suppose premature aging is a side effect of working long term for a no-good organization.

That's good, they should enjoy it and savor it, because ahem one hit wonders.
They're the Chumbawumba of the NHL this year.

Man, if we slip into a divisional playoff spot and get the Ducks, it will be ugly.
And whoever loses a possible BOA playoff series would have to hide in shame for years afterwards. Thatīd be really ugly

How about if we slip into a divisional playoff spot and push the Ducks into a wildcard? They're 3rd now and only two points up.

The Flames need to take another step and get over their baffling lack of success in Anaheim. No time like the present.

Look at Ryan Smyth though, so happy. Like a puppy he's just thrilled to be out for a ride.

So that they can watch an Oilers playoff game in HD and tweet about it for the first time ever.

In 2006, I remember that as the Flames went into Game #7 against the Ducks, everyone in town was talking about the Battle of Alberta that we were certain was going to happen in the following round. I was so excited.
A Boston Pizza near my house had already been decorated elaborately as a "Battle of Alberta Headquarters."
That did not turn out well.
Part of me hopes for a BOA in the playoffs. However, I mostly want the Oilers to have a horrible finish to the regular season, missing the playoffs by one point!

That's not fair. Chumbawumba had that one song and that other song from the Mystery, Alaska soundtrack.
