I'd love a battle of Alberta first round. But I'd also love Flames not making it too. So I'm torn.

I'd like to see the Oilers franchise stuffed into a trunk of a 77 Cadillac and driven off a cliff. Of a first round matchup. I'm torn.

Oil fans are all of the above except pessimistic.

Only one Jet fan I know meets that description (might be a poster here), the rest are over-optimistic and a little offended that they aren't universally liked.

Most TO fans I know can't stop mentioning them, but also are prone to worst case scenario predictions as soon as something goes a little wrong (mind you, with good reason).

True.

How about we stuff them in the hatch of an AMC Gremlin?

An AMC Gremlin already is waste.

Please tell me you didn't miss what I was implying...

We could throw the Oilers in the trunk of a 77 caddy and let it plunge into the abyss but GioforPM brought up the critical point of wasting a 77 caddy on the tire fire that is the Oilers...

I'm saying switching the car to an AMC gremlin would still be a waste of an AMC gremlin if you let it plunge into the abyss filled with oilers.

Can't think of a four wheel car/vehicle that deserves that fate personally.

Beating the Oilers in the first round essentially takes all the lustre out of their resurgent season and revokes their right to gloat to anyone south of Edmonton city limits.

They should be pretty scared of that matchup just for that possibility, if say the Flames' team depth and structure game proves to be better than having Talbot and McDavid when the games really matter.

At least if they land Anaheim and lose in a hard fought series, they can still look back fondly on the season for the most part and call it a 'step'. Nothing give Oilers fans more nightmares or pee in their cereal than being stuck in the Flames' shadow.

Nice dreams but not true. Not scared of a BOA first round matchup

That's a good choice. I picked the Gremlin because there was a '77 model, and if we're going to pick on '77 cars, better a Gremlin than a Caddy.

Actually, I would suggest that since the Oilers are stuck in their own vision of the 1980s, we should use a terrible domestic car from that period. I nominate the 1980 or '81 ‘Fox’ Mustang hatchback, the version with the weeny 2.3 L Pinto four-banger. Not only was it a lousy car, it took the name of Mustang in vain.

Yes, I know. I'm saying that the Gremlin became waste the moment they put the raw materials through the AMC assembly line. You can't waste something that is already waste. It was to cars in the 1970s what the Oilers were to hockey teams from 2006 to 2015.

It's not just a nice dream, though. I think it's closer to reality.

Having reasons to feel the Oilers are ahead of the Flames in any form or measure means everything to Oilers fans after the past decade. Making the playoffs isn't nearly as sweet when the Flames make it too. Hence why you're torn. I've read enough Oilers posts to gauge just how devastating that would be, given how badly the fans want that recognition. Especially in their super special year where they've clearly gotten their hopes up (wayyy up).

Good glad to see it, clearly the Flames would be the underdogs in the series because of the seasons series, so it would be incredible to see the Flames beat your team down and tell your fans to get the f out of the building.

You do know that there are no back to backs in the playoffs right? Or 3 on 3 or shootouts.

Your one trick pony team will hopefully be swept away by the fire and you Oiler fans can start looking forward to rebuild number 10

I guess we don't read the same posts. I don't get that feeling at all. Oh well. If it makes you feel better

Flames are getting hot, and, Elliot may be turning it on. Oiler fans should be careful what they wish for. If season ended today and there was an Oiler home ice BOA I'd pick Calgary is 6
