Even though my mic wasn't charged and I couldn't verbally communicate with him, I thought Dobbles and I started to get into a very good rhythm about covering the point for him as he was joining the rush, and we generated some solid chances out of it. More importantly though, we negated a lot of the opposition's offense by stifling them with positional play.

The dump was pretty effective, but I think we all need to make up our minds faster about what we are going to do with it. I appreciate the skill you guys bring, and it certainly results in offense, but I am a simple man, and play a simple game. If we hold it hold it hold it and then go 'dumping it in', well, the other winger has probably lost his speed by cutting in not wanting to go offside. Things like that.

I also think the point's could be utilized more effectively, and that is coming from someone who was playing centre.

Then again, I also have Tanguay-itis.

Basically, I agree with all these posts. It will just have to come with time. Let's all take it easy for this season and/or next season, get a rhythm for the feel of the game and the players, then set up a plan.

Looking at the tear you guys are on this afternoon, I'm gonna try and keep practicing for goalie. Now that I look at it, whoever pointed out that having Jobo out rather than goalie is probably better for the team is probably right.

My advice to you is that stay very deep in your crease majority of the time and move laterally 'lightly' if that makes sense. Also in break aways, copy what real NHL goalies do, get out of the blue paint and slowly move back in your crease when they are getting close, and hit the butterfly when they try to pull a deke while moving back. Trying for a desperate dive or a poke check isn't as effective IMO anymore than it was in NHL 09. Last thing, try to read a play as much as you can, for example, tic-tack-toe plays, one-timers, as this is by FAR the easiest way to score in the game at the moment, but try your best not to over commit. Think passive when playing goalie, not agressive.

yeah........but what exactly are you expecting? perfection? Mistakes are going to be made, I'm not always going to make the perfect decision, but I don't know what I've done to make you think I'm incapable of making the right play at the point. You need to realize that you can turn the puck over down low 10 times and no one thinks twice about it, but it seems like I make one bad play at the point and you remember it for the rest of the game. Chuck touched on the trust factor earlier, but I don't think I've made enough bad decisions to not be trusted at the point, but maybe I'm wrong?

Yea being a D I can see where koop is coming from..

Mistakes made at the point are noticed way more than the ones down low, only because we're the last line of defence.

I would also like to see more plays from the point as I think with this game it has to be the way to go. Traffic in front of net will be key.

i think another thing about not trusting the points is that we get the puck so seldomly that it is hard to get that experience. it is tough knowing exactly how long i have before i lose the puck to the pinching forward since it doesn't happen a lot. perhaps its something we could try to set up in a practice session, but i think it is a factor.

I actually wasn't talking about you or anyone directly and make it seem to not use the point. I was making it a point that we gotta be sure to not be overshoot with the puck at the point because I have notice times where a pass to a player near by or to the slot may have been a better option whether the shooting lane is blocked or partially covered. More practice at doing this requires giving the puck to the defender more and giving them repititions to practice this and develop trust with everyone of our defenders. I really want to make the point game work for us, but we gotta make sure we use it effectively and not lead to too many turnovers if we feed it a lot.

Fine and dandy to play with us, but if your going to play with a mic you gotta have your tv volume down low so it doesn't annoying the others your mic'd up with.

I dont have a mic on or at least I dont think I do..I used to have one but its missing, ill try to find it or buy a new one.

So whenever we go 6 men again, we HAVE to make sure to play against at least 4. If there are too many CPU forwards, they will run us down to the ground because they jump on every rebound guaranteed.

i totally love the online stats this year, but wish you could sort the player stats by each column. heck i know that was one of the most requested thing when we ran our own stats last year on the website. its not hard. i really hope its something they can do. its minor, but for the people who love stats, its crucial.
