That's true.

I hope if Aaron Paul wins though, they announce it like Bob Barker would have on "Price is Right".

The scene he did a couple seasons ago, when he was in the support group, talking about the box he made in woodshop was one of the best scenes I've seen in a TV show.
And to that, the scene he did tonight where he broke down about almost shooting Walt after he 'found' the 'ricin' in the Roomba broke my heart.

Man is Walt ever messing him up.

i dont think they would have got off the case regardless of how Mike played it, there is clearly something going on once they found that money trail... he did play it well...

So many things to cover from tonight episode.. but in today's never live in the moment world I never checked my phone once... which is saying something. It had me from start to finish. Towards the end with Mike in Lydia's home... her pleading, not for her life, but for her child not to think she was abandoned was great. I thought she was a goner but it took another interesting twist.

Brilliant show.
Gotta think that's going to lead to Mike's undoing. This is a woman who put money on Mike's head and Mike let her live? And not only is she going to live (at least for now), but she's going to have even more dirt on Mike and probably enough to go to the DEA at some point to save her own bacon by tossing him under the bus.

That's a pretty big risk, but, I suppose if anyone can mitigate it, it's Mike.

I remain a bit confused about the ol' boss being thrown under the bus. It's been a while since I watched season 4 so maybe I missed the connection. What's his deal again?

It's funny when you think about how the Jesse character was originally written to be killed off relatively early in the series, but the directors and other actors liked working with him so much that they re-wrote it to have Jesse/Aaron Paul stay on.

It makes me wonder how things would have gone if they had killed him off and what their original plan was. The whole "odd couple" thing is so much part of the story now.

someone had to take the fall for Gus

He did a lot of charity work for the DEA/Police and was the bosses personal friend.

Correct me if I'm wrong but until Mike asked Lydia if she can still get the "M....." chemical, we didn't really know what her role in the scheme was, right? At this point we can assume she's in the chemical, pharmacy, etc industry?

She's probably the local connection to the German conglomerate.

Methelyne (sp). It's a key ingredient to making meth. Otherwise, without it you need to purchase large quantities of the over the counter cough medicine sudafede.

When Jesse and Walt were discussing re-starting their cooking operation they had a discussion on how difficult it was going to be to find Methelyne.

Yeah I got that part, just wanted to know the lady's role.

it's been pretty vague whether Madrigol is involved or it was just her and Schuller. My guess is, because she wanted the 11 killed, that it was just a few and not the whole company.

She was some type of contact between Madrigol and Gus/Mike, when Mike asked her about the Methlamyne ("do you still have access to..") I assumed she was the one who got the chemicals in the past

Another "unrealistic" scene - AEDs will not shock anything if they detect a pulse!

Did exposing a wire change the characteristics of a typical AED?

Edit: http://spectrum.ieee.org/biomedical/...fibrillators/2

In the infographic, #4 could apply in this circumstance.

Mike's in a pretty desperate spot at this point though as he just lost all of his money. We just saw him let this chick live, as well as joining up with Walt. Mike's always been the man with the plan, but now we has taken 2 unwanted risks in a single episode. His character just became a lot more dynamic.

He knows he is under suspicion and the DEA is chasing down a lead or two that points in his direction. He also knows Lydia has put a price on his head and wanted to clean up loose ends to protect herself. In spite of all this, Mike has decided it is worth the risk to get involved with Walter and Jesse and let Lydia live in order to further his new partnership with Walter and Jesse.

I realize he lost a huge chunk of change in the offshore account and his granddaughter clearly means a lot to him, but Mike's the kind of guy who made this far being careful and avoiding mistakes. This screams hubris/tragic end for him.

Also, I wonder what he did in Philly that lead to his leaving policing...

I'm not sure about everyone else but Mike is easily my favourite character on the show. I love he's an old dude who is an absolute bada$$. That scene with Chow where he uses his hands to show Mike where to shoot through the wall was brilliant.

Mike knows that they know he's involved but without proof they can't do anything. He just has to keep quiet and he's good. If someone else rats him out, there's not much a lawyer is going to do for him.

He knows that Hank isn't going to get off his case regardless of how he acts and they are plenty suspicious of him. They aren't going to get any more suspicious about Mike. They know he's involved but they can't do anything about it.

Aaron Paul has had many memorable scenes, the one you noted was great. I thought he topped that one with the speech he made about "killing the dog" in the therapy session. That was unbridled desperation and despair. Amazing performance.

I enjoyed seeing Hank back in his element, interrogating and doing police work. I grew tired of the mineral collecting.

I enjoyed the shot of Mike and the hired hitman sitting across from one another with the Asian guys bloodied skull in the foreground.

I definitely enjoy Mike on the show. He just always seems so comfortable. Everything that happens is exactly what he expected and he's prepared. I think that's especially why I enjoyed seeing the little look he gave when he turned away from Hank and walked out of the room.

I didn't like seeing Marie in the previews for next week, though I suppose the clip they showed could be interesting. The one loose string the show never really tied up with her shoplifting. Does that eventually come back into play? This show seems to always have a purpose for what they show, but as far as I can recall, that never was mentioned again? That, and Skyler's smoking while pregnant. I suppose they don't have to have meaning, but as mentioned, they tend to not show something without it coming into play at some point.
