Also, the Eagles drafted 2 LB's last week, so there is that as well.
Hopefully Huff has some insider info... I mean, I want Singleton to stick in the NFL, but would welcome him back to Calgary if that doesn’t pan out long term...
If you see his twitter stuff through the year...you would think he is still a Stampeder. Talks to and about "his guys" all the time.
I've met him a few times, and we also interviewed him on Horseman radio. He really loves this city, the fans and the organization. Like he wears it on his sleeve.
He's just a great kid.

Yeah, seems like a no-brainer with Cory Greenwood being 34 years old and Nate Holley likely moving on from the Stamps. If still available in round 2, does Huf take a flyer on former UBC receiver Trivel Pinto? Very talented receiver, but has had some off-field issues.
Even the sun shines on a dog's butt once in a while
Lions take Nathan Rourke (Canadian QB who played last year at Ohio University) with their 2nd round pick. He has a shot to be a legit starting QB in the CFL.

If that same draft pick trade happened in the NHL, would that make a GM lose their job?
I actually had a brief back and forth (respectfully) on Twitter with the Stamps awesome radio PBP guy Mark Stephen about the trade shortly after it happened, he seemed genuinely puzzled why I and most others felt that trade was poor value for CGY. I'm guessing he sees it as we moved down 2, then moved up 3, so its fine. I kept reiterating the #12 pick doesn't carry the same value as the #1 overall pick, but he didn't seem to agree..I don't know how it isn't obvious. The whole trade was just weird.
He basically said he thinks the Stamps liked Williams, but liked other guys more. And they felt their guy would still be there @ 3. Fine, but thats just poor asset management...definitely could've gotten more from B.C. than what they did. I'm thinking they worked the phones and there wasn't much interest so they took whatever they could get. Still doesn't make it right.
I really want to trust Huff as he's the magic man, but geez..

So they could have got more from B.C, but also he worked the phones and this was the best he could get ?? Which is it ? Why would B.C. pay more if they know the Stamps aren’t taking the guy they want and no one else wants to trade up ?
Well I would assume that's where the art of the deal comes in and you need to do a better sales pitch and not show your hand..or if it's just not there, then just stand pat instead of forcing a deal you obviously lost. It's not that he could have gotten more from B.C., as much as he SHOULD have gotten more.
I guess I just like Williams a lot more than Huff and clearly he knows a lot more than we do, but I don't see how that was worth it. Time will tell, but as of tonight the optics are poor.

Who cares about optics.
Huff has more than earned trust that he knows what he’s doing
If they liked they guy they drafted more should they have stayed at 1 and taken a guy they liked less? Or drafted the guy they wanted and got nothing for the pick?

I was just really sold on Williams..I liked his story, when I read up on him he seemed like he'd be a stud, I thought he came off really well in his pre-draft 960 interview with Steinberg and sounded excited to be a Stamp, and I like the idea of having another non-import LB as it can be a rarity. To not get him, AND to trade out of that spot, in a deal we clearly lost...me no likey!
But since many seem to disagree with me on here now, at least it gave us some sports talk to argue about for a bit.. I'll take it these days.

Exactly this! I don’t love this trade, but I’ve also learned to trust Huff with my life... But more than anything, I’m just glad to have something going on right now!
