Exactly why I said depending on what happens in the post season. The two goalies have split duties this season - Allen has played more. Blues could choose to go with Allen and get a good return for Elliot at the same time. Point is they can still contend with Allen - they wouldn't be making a choice on being a contender or not. Best choice for asset management is to take advantage of a young up and coming goalie and that cheap contract and get something in return. Lots of reasons why it's not 'certified insane'. Also I didn't mention the expansion draft....
