I can't take that bet, but only because they couldn't be worse
Well that actually is my point. The chances they don't improve for both is slim. They also added some strong defensive players, and better possession players.
Komorov and Frattin were actually really good for them as possession players. they missed them last season.
I'll willing to bet anyone shots go down, possession time goes up.
I'd be willing to bet that their possession percentage (either CF% or FF%, both of which were league worst below 43%) remain below 45.0% ie in Buffalo and Edmonton territory.
I'd also be willing to bet that Bernier's SV% goes down (remaining .923 being a wash, and assuming he plays at least, let's say, 50 games)
I'd also be willing to bet the Leafs still allow more goals than they score.
If Carlyle gets fired, all bets would be off as it believe him to be the largest of their problems. Let me know!
Josh Gorges would be destroyed if he was #1 in QOC. He couldn't handle it. Dion is far better in every way.
And BTW, to point out your "Habs Centres are better" argument. The Habs #1 centre scored just 43 points last season. Outscored by both Bozak+Kadri. And yet people say it's the Leafs who desperately need a #1 centre.
in the 48 game shortened season, Kadri scored more than Plesks did in 81 games last season.
By the way, a little tidbit of no-goodness for those who think the Leafs have a proud history of some kind:
The NHL has had three or more rounds of playoffs in 62 of its 96 seasons played (1926–42, 1967–2004, 2005–14). Out of all those 62 seasons, the only time the Leafs won three rounds of playoffs was in 1932. At that time, the first two rounds were two-game, total-goals series – not even best of three. They won the Stanley Cup by playing a total of seven playoff games (and winning five).
The Leafs have never won three best-of-7 rounds in one postseason.

What an interesting and informative post. Five stars.

There is a general belief that Toronto is just wasting this year with a lame-duck coach and waiting for Mike "the saviour" Babcock to decide that Toronto is where he always dreamed of coaching.
ok ... I know the guy still plays at a high level, but god dammit man, you're a pro athlete. You shouldn't look like you have an airplane pillow for a neck.
Hearing rumours Clarkson broke his orbital bone in his fight against some Sabre. So likely out again for the start of this season. Clarkson should just not play preseason games versus the Sabres.

This is a huge loss for the leafs. Said nobody ever.

The guy is insanely overpaid, but before coming to Toronto he wasn't a completely useless player. I would have imagined he would have rebounded somewhat this season. As a thirdliner he is decent.

no way! That's crazy if true.
I saw the fight, he lost but it didn't look really bad or anything to suggest season ending.
