OK yeah - putting it that way I tend to agree. It's just that this Flames 3rd seems slightly off to me. Thinking about it now after considering what you said about the striping, perhaps what was throwing me, and continues to throw me, is the lack of yellow. Putting the alternate crest on the front fixes that since it has so much yellow in it. Maybe framing the shoulder yoke with yellow? Maybe make the yellow stripes a touch wider? I dunno...

I'll 100% guarantee that's what's throwing you off. The slab if black they've thrown on the shoulders throws everything off. When I have a bit of free time, I'm gonna go tweak this jersey around a bit and I'm sure we can come up with something that looks great with just a few tweaks. I posted a SUPER quick edit of the jerseys a way back in the threat with some yellow and white accents on the shoulder yoke, and it was already starting to look a whole lot better

Still have a hard time believing this is real... if it is real then EA is in a lot of trouble because I'm sure they signed a non disclosure agreement, and this would pretty much violate it.

Could be wrong, but everything about that pic from NHL looks shady... don't believe it's real.

I've learned from the Calgary Flames that it's best to wait and hear it from them then jump on a rumor.

I'd agree, but the shoulder logo is quite unique and fits with something they'd come up with.

Not sure if you would remember but, in 2007/08 when every team in the NHL re-designed their jerseys for Reebok, EA's game had every jersey in the game locked beforehand. Somehow the code leaked, and that's how each jersey ended up being revealed. Some teams had already unveiled their new looks but the vast majority did not. If EA didn't get in trouble for that, then they won't get in trouble for this.

If the jersey is indeed fake, someone went through A LOT of trouble to ensure it looked legit, including some pretty impressive photoshop work and creating a brand new shoulder patch. Not to mention that said jersey seems to match what was rumored on this site. It's also worth noting that this jersey pattern isn't available in the create a team mode in NHL 14. So the "photoshop" job wasn't just limited to adding a logo. Again, a lot of work to just troll everyone.

Some people do put in the work to troll, others don't... it's their lives whether they want to or not. And it could possibly be real. I'm just saying, me personally... Until I see the team wearing it, or the team unveils it. I'll hold off on it.

Either way, I'm thinking that this as a 3rd is fine. View it more like an arranged marriage... over time I might grow to love it.

I'd much rather see a redesign of the primary jerseys and hopefully the new 3rd is a precursor to it.

I feel the same way about the jersey, but to be honest this has to be the worst reaction that we should have for the release of our favourite team's new jersey.

Seeing a new Third should get the entire fanbase excited and eager to buy one instantly, the last thing that a majority of the fan base should be doing is finding ways to tolerate a third jersey. So if that's the general feeling right now from most people, i hate to admit it but this is an epic fail of a third jersey.

Out of curiosity, what makes the jersey so bad? I have read many complaints by I guess I just don't understand. It is NOTHING compared to Buffalos third jersey. I always thought a third jersey was supposed to be different, supposed to be unique. This almost seems like an example of group think lol. The jersey isn't bad, and the logo isn't great (I don't like word marks) but it is a lot better then what it could be! Minnisota, Islanders, and especially Buffalos are worse, but somehow Calgary pulls off the word mark! I guess you get what get!

Maybe because it's your favorite team you're likely more critical than is warranted. I can absolutely see why people wouldn't like it, it's nowhere close to perfect. They tried incorporating popular elements from other jerseys, and took a bit of a wager on a few unique touches. Some paid off (the shoulder patch) and some didn't (the front crest).
I can tell you for sure that the reaction from outside the people who LOVE the Flames is a lot more generous than the fanbase. I think it's decent jersey, and were I ever in the market for a Flames jersey, I'd buy that one over an away jersey, or the Heritage classic jersey.
I don't know, I'm still interested to see how it looks on a player. As I said before, jerseys in NHL 14 all look mostly cartoonish and bad, but there's no changing that crest unfortunately.
It's certainly not Buffalo or Islanders bad, so take a little comfort in that... I guess.

No matter what happened a wordmark was going to be hated by the majority on CP.

It could have looked identical to the retros or the 04 jersey which are loved by most but if the jersey had a wordmark it would be hated.

I think the front is way too busy, especially if the player is wearing a letter.



Like someone before said, it has the letter "C" on the front of the jersey 3 different times in three different fonts.

Going to the white letter for the Captain's C helps it stand out better, but the white string also catches the eye. They should have either stayed with the black string or just went to a regular V-neck.


I also assume there will be more yellow on the actual jersey than what we're seeing on the screen shot, which will help keep it from looking like a Devils jersey.


I decided to use the basic design and replace the word mark with the regular logo to see what it would look like. I liked the way it looked, so I put together a white one too...



I would not hesitate to buy one of those.
