Have the flaming C on the shoulder patch and add a bit of yellow to take away the NJ look... and you've got a nice looking uniform.

Way too busy to look good as a big, primary logo. It's a very good shoulder patch, though.

Like the patch myself, but yeah that's the first thing it reminded me of too.

Seriously, I just think we have one of the best logos already. It's simple, easily recognizable, and looks good. I think it's all you need.

Hate to mess with a classic, but I don't mind it. It reminds me a lot of the Team Canada Jersey (especially based on colour scheme) which I can easily get behind. Would have strongly prefered the Canadian Flag on one shoulder and the Flaming-C on the other.

Why would the Flames release a new 3rd jersey when the season's already started? Has that happen before ?

You know what? This era of Flames
Hockey needs a greasy 3rd jersey.
The Young Guns had the horse now the Young Guns 2 get this.

Ha ha. Yeah the Aztec is kind of the low bar for styling design so everytime I see a design that looks poor it's the measuring stick I compare to.

Why not the 'Calgary' wording with flames under it or something? I feel all these lack any link to the actual name of the team which is 'Flames'.

If the shoulder patch were to become the primary logo, it would look far better if the arm stripes either didn't contain as much black, or the torso stripe just wasn't there.
The rest needs to match the black-to-yellow/white/red ratio of the logo for it to have that balance. (with the exception of the shoulders)

Personally, I think that the fact that the body and arm stripes are dissimilar is a major fail.

Too much black in general as far as the stripes go. Either get rid of the body stripe, or just have less black. The big shoulder bar really darkens the jersey.

I'm not bothered about it, I actually think making the arm and waist bands the same is a lazy tradition. It works for most jerseys, but being a general rule that they should be the same limits creativity. The waist bands are clearly larger, compete more directly with the team logo and transition to the pants. The arm bands compete or incorporate the numbers, are significantly smaller and need to (this jersey doesn't, so it's my pet-peeve with this jersey) accent or tie in with any shoulder details.
But the Jets jersey looks great:
And I think a large part of that is because they have dissimilar arm and waist bands.

OK yeah - putting it that way I tend to agree. It's just that this Flames 3rd seems slightly off to me. Thinking about it now after considering what you said about the striping, perhaps what was throwing me, and continues to throw me, is the lack of yellow. Putting the alternate crest on the front fixes that since it has so much yellow in it. Maybe framing the shoulder yoke with yellow? Maybe make the yellow stripes a touch wider? I dunno...

It's likely to make it harder for the counterfeiters to get their knockoffs on the market in time for Christmas.
With the Heritage Classic jerseys, it was about two months from the time the jerseys were first shown at the McMahon press conference until the fakes started showing up. If the Flames wait until the end of October to announce the new jerseys, the counterfeiters won't have time to catch up, so everyone who gets a new Flames alternate jersey for Christmas will be getting an officially licensed product.

The Third Jersey (if these leaks are legit) look like a bad counterfeit. At least it makes it easier for counterfeiters.
