Not sure why this isn't done more often as you take a hit but ensure you get hardware in the hands of owners that will buy more software.

Especially in Europe - that FIFA customer base is huge!

They did have to pull out of a lot countries for their launch, should stem the bleed from that setback.

That and they're paying 100 Euro's more for the Xbone. After the free Fifa, they're basically paying 50 euro for Kinect (everything else being equal).

Overall, Bartel described the launch quantities as "unprecedented."
He did not provide specific numbers, but said GameStop has bolstered its supply chain capacity for the upcoming console launch by 60 percent through using contracted distribution centers.

Regarding preorders, Bartel would not say which system had more at present. However, he did say that the PS4 "first-to-know" list currently has 1.5 million members, compared to 700,000 on the Xbox One list.

Sony previously announced that PS4 preorders have exceeded 1 million units.

Well that's odd. I have a preorder with future shop from 6 months ago for it. I wonder if they were originally planning to release it on PS4.

Probably not a huge effect, but timing would never be "great" for something like this. Then again, the stock is up pretty significantly.

I really want Ryse to be good, I think that it could be a blast. However, considering it's a new IP, I think I'll wait for some reviews before pulling the trigger. It's going to be an expensive holiday season for myself

I wasn't overly impressed with the hands on-time I had with it. It looks pretty but not much gameplay. That being said, I do hear rumors that they are desperately and quickly moving away from the QTE fest and "Press A for Awesome x 999". Here is to hoping.

There is also hoopla about their multiplayer being pay to win through microtransactions now - we'll see how it all shakes out on release. It won't be an immediate launch purchase for me.
