The Wild were looking to move Rossi in the summer
Yes, his play this year so far could have changed that
Yes they have cap troubles, so we’d need to take a contract dump from them
If people are going to immediately freak out and start over analyzing simple chatter.
I can stop sharing until I know a trades coming for sure if need be, but I’m simply sharing the info I know about some phone calls, I didn’t even guarantee it was Rossi.
I don’t know the cap compliance surrounding any sort of deal, I just know that he’s the only one that really fits what Craig could be looking for and that’s what they think it is.

Trotz is off to a terrible start.
Crosby to Colorado is much different. You are adding one of the best players of all time who can still play to 2 of the top 3 players in the league who are still in their prime.
If Crosby can also stop pucks Colorado would be unstoppable.

They won a cup with a pretty midlevel goaltender after adding Kadri. IMO Crosby/Georgiev > Kadri/Keumper.

This actually seemed like a pretty civil reaction to the rumour to me. Appreciate the info!

I don't think anyone has attacked either the rumour or the poster. People are just looking at feasibility and how it could (or couldn't) work.

I always enjoy your posts, so thank you for taking the time to share.
It's always awesome to get glimpses into the management's vision of the Flames going forward.
I also think it's great you're actually providing some color commentary/context instead of just a couple of tidbits.

I mean that obvious, but the goaltending is going to cost Colorado. It is brutal. A team putting up the type of offence they are and not in a playoff spot is wild.
Kuemper was decent, that is all they need decent goaltending.

Now you know why I am so quiet this year in regards to what I hear. Most of us appreciate the info and I have never understood why anyone would be upset when someone shares. Even if you don't believe them why would you be put off by something that generates discussion? Here is a better question, why would anyone post stuff they make up knowing how certain posters react to it? There is no reward for sharing, you don't win a prize, you do it because you appreciate the community even if some don't appreciate you back. Keep doing your thing Royle, you make this forum a better place.

I don't know about anyone else, but when I come into this thread I quickly scroll through until I see a post with a bunch of 'thanks'. When I see one I stop and read it, I'd wager ~90% of the time it's usually one of sureLoss, Royle, sec214 or dissentowner, the latter three sharing a tidbit they've heard through connections they have.
I doubt I'm the only one who does this.
The other ~10% it's usually somebody ripping on a poster who has criticized one of the three insiders we have who are good enough to share the info they hear.
Don't let the vocal minority stop you from doing your thing guys, it's way more valuable to the majority here who would rather read that, than read the countless, meaningless trade proposals that nobody can ever agree on and that never come to fruition.

Regarding Kadri... hard to imagine anyone agreeing to eat 50% of his salary for 5 years, but I could imagine a couple million - $10M total, over 5 years... basically similar to a buyout for a guy like Neal.
Regarding Crosby... I could see COL as the one team he might entertain a trade to. As for Calgary - perfect intermediary to eat some of his salary. Send him to CGY for futures, then CGY sends him to COL for whatever the retention is worth.
If PIT ate some, and the Flames ate some, he would be a pretty damn attractive piece for COL.
Royle9... never worry about the reactions (which I actually thought were fine in this case), as 90% of people are extremely appreciative, as well as understanding that you're just a messenger, passing on info/rumours. Over-reactions are the problem of the people making them.

Exciting rumour. If not Rossi, who could the Wild be moving?
Coleman would be a good add for them if the money could be massaged to work.
Could we be facilitating cap space and taking futures? Maybe Wild want someone on another team.

They are #1 in the league. Why would they trade their 3rd highest point producer who is 23. Makes no sense. The earlier trade with the Blue Jackets seemed strange as well. You are #1 in the league and trading your best trading chips for a project ?

Maybe they are putting their chips in.
If they are moving Rossi it would be to acquire an even better player, not necessarily from us. Maybe this is a 3 way deal and we get Rossi for brokering some money - a contract from Wild or maybe money from team 3.

Probably because they're trying to win a number of cups over the next 10 years, not just one cup this year. That's why they did the Jiricek deal; their scouts must feel he'll be better than the prospect they draft in the 20s this year.
Maybe on Rossi, they feel that he isn't the second line centre that they need over the next 10 years (They have a potential killer in Charlie Strammel, who might be bouncing back this year) and figure they can get some value for him to keep building.
Got to figure that they have a lot of irons in the fire with the amount of cap space they're sitting on for next year and how well they're doing. They are in a pretty enviable position.
