That's true but between some questionable clothing choices and the fact he only decided to kneel when he was demoted to backup make me skeptical that he's the type of person I could get behind and support as I don't find him a likeable man.

Kaepernick started sitting for the national anthem in the 2016 pre-season prior to Chip Kelly announcing he was the Backup Quarterback to start the 2016 regular season.

I can't help but feel "Castro T-Shirt" is just another "Tan Suit" narrative.

Likability is irrelevant. The question is, was Kapernick right? Unequivocially, yes he was.

Likeability is everything if you are trying to get people to follow your cause. The reason he failed is because he did not come off as a genuine or likeable person.

The fact that Gabbert was starting those preseason games is telling of a decision made prior to any public announcement and a player frustrated he was losing his starting job.

Lol. No, YOU didn't like him.
How did he fail exactly?

You didn’t like him, which is great, but I don’t think the people that can’t hear a message because of “socks” are really the type of people who have any interest in listening in the first place. Don’t pretend you care/cared in the first place if you think the socks were more important. You know that’s silly.
You can spin the narrative however you want, but the backlash against Kaepernick started before people started getting upset over his clothing choices. And the idea that he just did it because he lost his starting job is pretty ridiculous. He did took a stand against something that cost him his career. And oh, look at that, it appears he was right!
He didn’t fail, he succeeded in furthering the conversation. The backlash isn’t because he wasn’t “likeable,” that’s ridiculous and you know it. The backlash was because America doesn’t take kindly to being show it has faults.

The reason he failed was that he wasn't a good enough player that they couldn't ignore him. If it was Cam Newton or Aaron Rodgers or Russel Wilson doing it, the result would have been different. Because the league could credibly discard Kapernick on the basis of him being a borderline backup caliber player, they did.
I honestly think that the primary motivation for most of the powers that were in the NFL at the time was the avoidance of controversy - "if we just get rid of the guy at the center of all this he'll fade away into obscurity and the story fades with him". That, obviously, did not work out very well.

It's a rope fashioned as a noose to work as a garage door pull.
The FBI concluded this wasn't a hate crime. The rope was there last year.
Bubba and Al Sharpton aren't convinced... because.. reasons..

From the article you posted:
“It was a noose that was — whether tied in 2019 or whenever — it was a noose,” Wallace added. “So it wasn’t directed at me, but somebody tied a noose.”
Bubba seems pretty convinced that it wasn't directed at him. What else do you want him to say?

To stop calling it a noose? It's a ####ing garage door pulley. By insisting it's a noose, which has very specific negative connotations, he's egging on idiots like Al Sharpton to push this narrative.
This is like the Oakland rope but even dumber, if possible.

Stop calling it what it is?
It's a noose. Why is calling it a noose such a problem. The noose was not directed at him but it's still a noose. Why would someone need to tie a noose into a garage door pulley? It makes no sense to tie a noose into that. It really seems like a poor choice by someone to tie a noose there even if it wasn't directed at him specifically.

I'm not terribly upset, and I'm not terribly wound up. Thanks for asking though, I appreciate it.
