The top of the pass is 2,206 Meters and if you approach it from The Highwood Junction (south gate) to King Creek (north gate) round trip is 108kms. That is most common trip but you could also just go up 54km to the top and back down to south gate. Good time to do this ride as it opens to traffic on June 15th. Also the Highwood House store should have opened May 1rst so you can fuel up before and after. Fuel will be a key!

Yeah, anything goes for fuel! One year we rode it from Calgary and stopped in Longview for jerky, burgers, fries, pie, and a case of beer. Fuel is fuel, it all burns!

Lots of surface scrapes and bruises. Sprained ankle will take some time.

I got my blown chain link removed, shortening my chain. Both wheels have some wobble and front brake rubs. In on Tuesday for a wheel repair. The Bike Shop was killer, their technician did a lot for me for next to nothing.

I did a test ride with my ankle, got new clothes and rode back to work.

Not too bad all in all, just need to be careful walking for a bit.

I'm going to try Highwood Pass for the first time today. I guess we're taking the easier route up from Longview (75km). I'm probably not prepared.

Just did a ride between Peachland and Summerland. About 42km. I did about 50km on the Wedtside Road in Kelowna a couple of days ago. The Okanagon is a wonderful place to ride!

The OK is a cycling dream, both on and off roads. This is the first year in ages I won't be back for cycling and I'm already thinking of how much I'll miss it.

Better than when you forget a work shirt and have to sit in a sweaty cycling jersey until the stores open. Or forget your work pants and sit at your desk in bike shorts.

No, that is great. Those are my shorts and t-shirt days! When the AC stops working at it hits 29 I'm thankful I have an excuse....

I sure hope that at least one of you guys are riding home the opposite way of me as it seems like almost every day I am riding home into a pretty good wind, it is really starting to GMG

Ditto for me, getting real sick of gusty headwinds.

Used that wind that you poor southern guys hate so much to destroy my round trip record by 10 minutes yesterday. Felt good. Better than the soul sucking cross wind last Thursday.

I want to go out and do a bike packing trip around the elbow loop. Where would be a lower cost place to get a large frame bag and seat post bag. I think I can make my own handle bar bag.

I have a seat bag and frame bag from Revelate designs. They were about the cheapest I could find. But it's still expensive. Most shops do them custom, Revelate has S, M, L to choose from, so it's not a custom fit but they are good bags and a little cheaper. I have a whole list of links for bike packing bags that I could post as well.
