If the plan is to maximize value of Kadri and not play him out the rest of his deal, now is the time to do it. I don’t think he will ever improve on last year’s performance.

I think GM’s and hockey departments around the league are a little more sophisticated in their valuation of a players skills, abilities, and how the player may slot into their own organization.
If GM’s only traded player at a high point, or their pinnacle, I’d bet very few trades would ever happen.

The difference now he is that he has a long term contract. He’s like Farabee in my opinion, some team might take him on as a gamble if they get something else they want but he doesn’t have any value.

We say this every year about him. He's still a 60-70 point player, especially with the ice time he gets in Calgary. I doubt we have any problem trading him in the next off-season. People just can't wait to get rid of the guy and I don't get it. We have no young 1C knocking on the door, so wtf is the rush for?

I'm not against maximizing Kadri's value but when he has an NMC and that makes the Leafs the only real trade partner... no thanks. They have nothing I want that they'll actually trade us.
